Speakers have quit working (by 5 users)

Had to reload my OS...upgraded to Windows XP from Windows 2000 (finally!)....but now the speakers on my monitor don't work. In fact, now I don' show any type of sound device as loaded on the computer. The monitor is supposed to be a plug n play and I don't have any software to load with it. Any idea how to make the speakers work again? I have checked and verified all of the connections are correct.

i had my computer cleaned up and after a week or so of operating there is no sound from the monitor.

I thinks you've got surges built up in the cables. If it's a FP-988D just unplug all the cables from the PC and Monitor too. Then wait for 10 seconds and pluging all the cables back in again.
