Question about Panasonic DMR-ES46VS DVD Recorder/VCR

2 Answers

Any button pushed on my remote control causes ''SET 1'' on display.

My unit is actually a Panasonic DMR ES46B.
Any button pushed on my remote control causes "SET 1" on the unit's display, and NO functions are actuated by the remote as a result of this condition. The "play" button on the main unit does work though, so I can play a long movie, just no pausing, forwarding, reversing, etc. which are all controlled only by the remote. It may be that some sequence of buttons were pushed on the remote to cause this...I have no idea how it got into this condition. This is particularly annoying when you are trying to view a DVD with multiple episodes because without the pan & scroll buttons on the remote working, you can't choose any episode except the first one on a DVD. Otherwise it's been a great unit for a long time, and is in perfect shape! Thanks in advance for your assistance! Rob Sparks 512-773-2454 cell

PS. I tried:
1) power off for a while
2) removing and replacing the batteries from the remote
3) changing the disc
4) unplugging the unit for a while
All to no avail...Thanks again!

Hi, All you need to do is point the remote at your DVD player and hold both the number "1" and "enter" keys down for about 10 seconds. Evidently that re-sets the remote. It worked for me so good luck.

Maybe the remote has been set-up to control a second dvd recorder.Press the functions button, select 'others' then 'remote control'.Then see if you get success by changing the dvd number.

Hi, I have DMR-E60 I have original Remote control but when I press any button, on a display shows remote dvd 2 ,please tell me what can I do. Thanks

The remote and the DVR are not paired correctly. This is a feature which allows the use of 2 units from the same manufacturer without each remote controlling both units. There will either be a small switch in the remote's battery compartment, a sequence of button pushing on the remote or an option to pair the remote in the DVR's menus to change from remote 2 back to remote 1.

My DMR-EH50 is stuck in SP mode and when I hit the button on the remote it keeps displaying CHK REMOTE 3. Would you know what is causing this. I cannot get the unit to do anything at all.

Very easy fix.

Your DVD recorder can be set up to accept remote contol signals on any one of three channels. Remote 1, Remote 2 or Remote 3.

Your remote can be set up to send signals on any of these channels. You need to make sure your recorder and remote are set to the same channel.

Your recorder is telling you that it is set to receive remote control signals on channel 3. This means your remote control is currently set for a different channel.

Assuming that you have a genuine Panasonic remote, do the following,

On your remote press the "Enter" button and hold it down. Then press the "3" button at the same time for two seconds, then release both. This will change your remote so it sends signals on Channel 3 which will match your recorder.

Those clever people at Panasonic realise that you will be delighted with their products and will probably have several of their appliances in use. The different channels avoids switching all your Panasonic gadgets at the same time. Clever huh?

Best wishes

We have a Panasonic DMR-EH50 DVD player/recorder. We recently moved house and following the move, the FUNCTIONS button on the remote no longer works. Everything else on the remote does. I've tried...

The message displayed means that the remote control and unit are not communicating and the remote needs to be programmed. To program the remote, press and hold the same number that is displaying on the unit and the [ENTER] or [OK] button for more than 2 seconds. For example, if the unit displays “SET 2”, press and hold [2] and [ENTER] or [OK] for more than 2 seconds.

Panasonic DMR-ES45V - DVD recorder / VCR combo Remote not workin

My remote is not working. When I press a button, I get the following message on my unit: U12, U30, SET #, CHK REMOTE #, or RC #. What can I do to fix this? The message displayed means that the remote control and unit are not communicating and the remote needs to be programmed. To program the remote, press and hold the same number that is displaying on the unit and the [ENTER] or [OK] button for more than 2 seconds. For example, if the unit displays “SET 2”, press and hold [2] and [ENTER] or [OK] for more than 2 seconds.

Universal Remote says ''RC2'' for DMR-EZ27

Question (s): The remote control for my DVD recorder has stopped working. Every time I press a button, the display says "CHK REMOTE 1", "RC1" or "SET1". What is wrong? Answer/Comments: Your DVD recorder remote control can be programmed (with different codes), so it can be used with multiple Panasonic DVD players. When you press a button and the display shows [CHK REMOTE #] or [RC#] or [SET#] it means that the DVD recorder and the remote control are not set to the same code.To set the remote control code to that of the DVD recorder, press and hold [ENTER] as well as the corresponding code number on the display (1, 2 or 3) at the same time for more than 2 seconds.

Panasonic DMR ES15

Got me too... If the buttons on the main unit work normally, then possibly main unit and remote control are using different codes. Main unit shows SET 1; change remote control code to match it: Press and hold [ENTER] and code number [1] keys for more than two seconds.
