I have a Gateway GT5418E: I've tried F8 and Alt F10. They just keep putting me into the boot up screens - never see a recovery one????? Any help would be appreciated!

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things
working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer

hope this helps

I am trying to image a gateway e-2000 via a USB thumb drive. The system will not boot from the drive. I have USB boot set to enabled.

What process did you use? You need to make sure that the USB is formatted clean via FAT32 by right-clicking the drive and formatting it. Do not choose the quick format, and let it sit. Go watch some TV or something and then come back depending on how much data is on there. Then you can extract your ISO from the Original Windows 7/Xp/VISTA or the recovery Disc from Gateway to the Flash drive and reboot. Make sure in the BIOS (by hitting f2 when the splash logo appears) that you go to boot management and only select that the flash drive is the boot device or external device. Then when it boots up, and starts installing, the first time it restarts it will keep rebooting unless you remove the flash drive because the first time around it installs the image to the hard drive. Then re-plug the flash drive back in to keep the installation going only AFTER the first restart, then don't forget to go back to your bios and change your boot priority to the hard drive.

Gateway gm5442 very slow to boot, 20 to 30 minutes.

You said you tried different CPU, but it was the same motherboard, right? Maybe the motherboard speed (data bus, etc.) is just slow. Otherwise, there's not much left to try if the hard drive works OK in another computer and you've tried upgrading the memory, CPU, and power supply.

Get blue screen and will not boot or reboots by itself

start the pc when setup appears on the screen hit the F8 key on top of keyboard then use the 4 arrows on the side of the keyboard to select up and down ...on the screen you will see safe mode and safe mode with networking and you will see the option to boot from last known good configuration<- select this if that doesnt work you probably installed something lately that is causing the problem so repeat the steps i just said then select the option safe mode the let the files load on screen your desktop will look different when its loaded clik start then select all programmes then select accessories then select system tools then on menu that comes up beside that select system restore...a box will come up asking you do you want to restore pc to an earlier date select a date when you last know the computer was working right then clik next then your pc will be restored to the date it was working correctly this should work and you can do this anytime the pc isnt working properly hope this helps

My keyboard on my other computer is not working - I can't type my password in so I can start my computer -- the computer seems to be working ok! Its a gateway computer

Two things are a possiblity
1. Your keyboard has a short, and you have to get a new keyboard.
2. The cable is unplugged (I'm sure you've checked) but hey it's a possiblity

Gateway 831gm not booting. Fans come on but no boot process.

2 questions:
When you say new motherboard do you mean an actual new motherboard or new to that machine, but came from another used model?
When you say you tested the power supply do you mean with a voltmeter/ammeter or put it in another computer and it worked?
I worked on several gateways with similar problems and it boiled down to motherboard issues.
I tested it by replacing the power supply with a bigger (used) power supply and it worked great (for 1 time) and then put the other power supply back in to confirm my diagnosis and yep it wouldn't boot. The next morning I was going to run some virus/malware cleanup and installed the other (known good) power supply and it would not work. I tried all day to get it to boot and it did about twice in a 4 hour period. When it did run it would run great but any attempt to restart it would cause it to crash. No ryhme or reason, it would not fail the same way more than twice. Sometimes beeps, other times no beeps, sometimes it would start up with no video (could hear the Windows starting sounds) other times it would start up normal. I could let it sit and it would start or I could keep trying in sucession and it would eventually start. Some times the fans would slow down from a roar, sometimes they wouldn't. So with a known good power supply that had 150 more watts than the original I diagnosed it as a failed motherboard. But if you have put in a brand new motherboard then I would replace the power supply, because a bad power supply does not mean no power, just not enough power. Please post back and let us know what you find out.

Problem logging on to Gateway profile 3

it sounds like it is booting to a network... unless this is normal you need to change the order the computer boots.... f12 i believe is the right key to tap on as it is booting up.... have it boot directly to the hard drive... unless of course you require it to boot to a network

Gateway Solo 1150 error code beeps 1-3, 1-3 Phoenix Plug and Play BIOS 6.0 No further POST - no boot - no video?!?!?

Remove the battery. Start the computer on AC power only. Computer should start up OK. This is a sign that the battery has had it. A new battery might be needed.

Hp a305w Pavilion No Mouse or Keyboard at first bootup

i would reset your keyboard and mouse settings to default then shut down pc.. unplug components and wait for 3o secs and then try again.. if the problem persists, you may just have some loose connections especially if your pc is older..make sure there is enough slack for your mouse and keyboard wire to move around.. i know sometimes we can ruin them if we have then stretched to far out.. hope this helps.. d
