Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 Digital Camera

1 Answer

My solution disk is cracked.

I received the camera as a gift last year. When my computer crashed recently, I went to reload the disk, but have discovered it is cracked. I have a windows xp. I am told I can download from Canon's site, but don't know what to ask for.

Thank you again, but offering your solution. Sorry, I forgot to include my model number which I could not find in the drop down menu. It is A570 IS. A dear Irish friend has offered me her disk but it is a 22.0 version and mine is 30.0 so I think I would be adding more trouble by downloading hers.

What, Mr. IrishDruid, would you suggest, please?

Go here and select your model fom the drop down menu and click on go. Wait for the full page to load, and Selct Windows XP from the drop down. That will provide you with the driver, which you can then download.

Should you have any difficulty, please reply with the exact model of your camera and I will help further.

Should this solution fix your issue, kindly rate it as Fixya.

Oops..I totally forgot to provide you a link the first time apologies! OK, just went to the site and checked the drivers for your model and Windows XP. It says that you do not require a driver for this model on WinXP.

You should be OK to just plug in the camera to your PC and transfer files. You can do the following:
    1. Plug in the camera to the PC and ensure it is
    detected by the PC.

    2. Right click START button and select Explore.

    3. From the left panel, scroll to the drive corresponding to your camera. (It
will usually be located after the last
    DVD/CD ROM Drive letter.

    4. Click on that drive to expand the folders in the right pane.

    5. Search for the relevant pictures from a folder within that drive.

    6. Copy the required pics (Hold CTRL and click on pics in case you want to
select more than one pic). Then rightt click and select "COPY"

    7. Once you copied all the needed pics, select a folder on your computer (or
create a new one) and paste the pics into this folder.

    8. You're done :)

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to
    post them here.

Software for computer for this camera

You can get the driver from the manufacturer's web site at

But have you considered NOT connecting the camera to the computer? The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program you wish.

: I bought a Acer One Netbook model AO751H-1948.

to tell u the reality the recovery disks is of no use as per my openion.
as they cant reload the OS in case ur machine just have a WinOS CD from which u can reload OS again in case there is any crash,
the recovery disks do work but they wont help you in case you need to reload the OS again.
So just buy a WinOS if ur machine came with preinstalled OS
this is my experience and personal openion, the rest of the decison is left to you.

Dxg 202v software

you don't need any drivers for this camera
if you have windows xp,it should just work
I just got me .the same type of camera ,got it as a gift
came home.plugged it and my windows XP recognized it right away
it install the drivers right there and then, everything was done automatically
try and go to "system device" and see if there is any yellow mark on the usb area
if there is one, then do a driver update.
