Samsung HLR5078 50" tv - replaced a shattered color wheel but the colors are way off with the new one - yellow in place of both red and greens.

I'm not sure you received the correct color wheel. Do you have anything left of the shattered color wheel to compare it to the new one? Seems if you got the correct wheel then the colors should of been the same. Color wheels spin at the same rate of 60Hz. The only reason why you would get the wrong color is that the color on the wheel is in the wrong placed at the right time. I would see if you can get a wheel the same # as your original one.

If the blue looks like an aura of light around the picture then it is likely to be a problem with the color wheel, probably it should be replaced.

Try first doing a color auto balancing (magic focus) and see how it goes, probably you will need to replace color wheel.

I replaced the color wheel on my HLP6163, it was broken. The lamp would come on for a second before I replaced the color wheel and now it wont come on at all. Nothing. I hear it start and the lamp and...

Check two things:

First: when you replaced the color wheel examine the orange flat ribbon cable that plugs into it. It is very easy to put it in backwards. contacts on it should face rear of set--this will if placed wrong cause No lamp.

Second: make sure little blue lever switch is engaged(you cannot power set up with back off as the switch prevents set from working if lever is not engaged.

I am here if you need help, I am in California.

Samsung DLP Facial Colors off after changing color wheel

Do you mean that red and blue are reversed? If so, you may need to remove a jumper, see end of linked article. Pinkish-yellow or orange sounds like a good description of skin tone, but perhaps too intense. If the color is too intense, can you just lower the color level with the color control? Or can you just change the tint with the tint control? Otherwise, see http://www.jangro.com/electronics/samsung-dlp-replace-color-wheel/ including the comments at the end.

Color is wrong after color wheel replacement

Hello,

You probably replaced a bearing colorwheel, and it was replaced with a bearingless. If you look inside the TV on the back of the light engine (the silver box in front of and to the left of the color wheel), there should be a jumper (that connects two wires coming out) toward the bottom of it in a recessed little hole. That jumper should be removed if the color wheel was replaced with the air bearing type. Just grasp it gently with a pair of needle nose pliers, and pull it out slowly.

This should restore a normal color operation, but there might be some other adjustments that need to be made if it doesn't clear it up completely.

I hope this helps you...

Changed samsung hlp6163 colorwheel now all the colors are off alot of blue

There is a place for a jumper on your DMD (the module that the color wheel plugs in to) If the jumper is there remove it. If there is no jumper install one. On later models the pins are gone but solder pads are still there, solder it. Some wheels have air bearing and others have fluid bearing. You really should buy a service manual for that set. New color wheels sometimes come with CCA values that you must change in the service menu
Good Luck

Installing color wheel!

Hello,

just make sure to get the right color wheel, as mine after changing it changed the color around (blue became red and red became blue), I have to send it back for Vance Baldwin to send me another one...Well I called them and they said they probably send me a defective one, but the one I received did not even look like the old one for starter...so that might explain it.
Anyways, I don't think there are a "how to" for the Vivitek, but it really isn't hard at all. Just unscrew the back of the tv, and then unscrew the tray ( on your right) and slowly pull it out. Then you will see there will be a bunch of wires connection to disconnect, pretty easy, just make sure to remember which one goes where, but it's relatively easy. Then work on the color wheel. The color wheel is inside the big black box cover, so open that firdt (just the left part is good enough) then you will find a metallic casing under the black cover, open that also (just the right side again) and then voila! the color wheel should be there. From there you should be able to figure out what to do next. Good luck, and let us know how it went...because I'm still waiting on my new color wheel to redo it again...might have done it about 6 times now...child's play...

Vivitek 51'' DLP color wheel

it's not hard at all, trust me. but you have to go at it slowly when doing it for the first time. it's just about unscrewing and disconnecting wires. Nothing that is hard to reach either. I can help you step by step if you want, just email me.
However, my problem is to get the correct color wheel!!!! I have ordered twice from Vance Baldwin now and looks like they keep shipping me the wrong color wheel? first, the new color wheel does not look like the old one, then its wire connection is shorter making it harder to connect and then when done, the tv switches all the colors around: so red becomes blue and blue becomes red! what's going on???? I tried it twice with 2 new color wheel?I gave them the correct model number along with the serial number and they assure me the color wheel they shipped me is the correct one but I swear it is not!!!! so what's going on?
If anybody has an answer on how to deal with this, please let me know! here is my email:
chuericly@gmail.com. Thanks.

Color is bad after installing color wheel in samsung dlp tv

Most times color does not to be reset. If you have a very ugly green or blue picture, then you did not pull the jumper on the dm board. This jumper must be removed when a bering type color wheel has be replaced with a new airless bering color wheel.

Samsung dlp color issue

I just had a service tech out and replaced the color wheel. now i have the same issue with the color...the people all look blue. He told me that now the the digital board is bad. It's the board were all of the connections go. I'm not convinced, as I remember reading something about color settings needing to be adjusted after color wheel replacement.
