Question about Alpine IVA-W200 2-DIN DVD/CD/MP3/WMA Receiver Car Video Player

1 Answer

White Screen The head unit does not display anything when powered on. The "ALPINE" intro tries to come on, sorta halfway but with much of the pieces missing and most of the screen is white; then the whole screen fades to white. Everything else seems to function correctly. Tried resetting the unit but that did nothing.

Anyone who still has this problem should send their unit to Alpine for repair. The LCD screen is bad and needs to be replaced. I've since upgraded mine to the IVA-W205.

it sounds like you have the blue wire (antenna remote turn on) instead of the blue/white wire (amplifier remote turn on) turning on an external amplifier in your rover. the antenna remote wire turns off when you leave tuner mode.

Alpine CDA-9835 Head Unit

it may have a connection problem(flexible strip) to the PCB that has dislodged, or the display itself has developed a problem. Couple of questions, is it entire characters that are missing, or parts of same. Is the unit still operating normally?
Hit me back here and we shall get to the bottom of your problem.:)

Display malfunctions/no working functions

Remote turn on lead shorted to audio intterupt lead? I would just hook up power and ground to the 9833 and see if problem goes away. If not is must be internal to the 9833. If problem goes away i would double check wiring. Good luck that is a sweet cd player.

Connect alpine 7874 to alpine powered sub

You need to run the RCA cables from the head unit to the sub for the audio signal, and possibly a turn on wire (the blue one on the back of the head unit), unless the sub has an automatic power feature.

The sub also needs power and ground wires attached, but those do not connect to the head unit. Power should be run directly from the battery with an inline fuse, and ground should go to the nearest good ground point (Trunk latch, seat bolt, etc).

Try turning off the password lock or password if you have one. That fixed mine. I had an identical problem.

Not Working

My only suggestion is to check your wiring.
Be positive your accessory wire [red wire] is hooked up to the correct wire from your car's wiring harness.
To be positive this is the problem, connect both the red and yellow wires [accessory and battery] coming from your head unit to the battery wire from the car's harness temporarily.
Do not, however, leave your head unit wired this way. It will never shut off and drain your battery.
If your head unit still does not turn on, and you say the fuse is good, you most likely have a bad head unit.
Most head units now have a fuse in the back next to the wiring harness as well.
Don't forget to check that one as well, in case you missed it.
