Downloaded WUSB54GSC and cannot connect to the internet

Hi,

Recently, I re-booted my PC so its like Factory New.
I got Vista, 32 bit os. The internet worked fine before.
But after I re-booted, i put in the Linksys CD...
Then, i downloaded it, plugged in the USB when it told me to.
Then I looked for the networks, theyre not there.
I usually leach off the ones around my room (I live in an apartment)
My brothers computer, and this laptop connects just fine.

Please email me back if you have any solution,

    The IP address is

    216.105.229.60
    so i went tohttp://216.105.229.60

and it had the "internal error" screen.

I use the internet around my apartment so I am not able to bring my desktop to there house to connect it.
worked before i system restored though.

Please try this:

Connect your PC with a cable to the router. See if you can access the router configuration with Internet Explorer (or firefox...). To do this, you have to know the IP address of the router: it is in the documentation and is by default. You can find the info on the website of Linksys. On mine, the router IP address is 192.168.0.1. I type the IP address in the address bar in Internet Explorer (http://192.168.0.1) and I reach the router login. It may look hard to do, but if you do it once, you will understand the process and be able to troubleshoot your connection in the future.

I think that your IP address is now used by another computer. Once you reach the router configuration, you will be able to reserve your IP address, so no more problem to get to Internet. See the manual for the router login and password.

Okay, so I understand that the router is not yours, so you can't access the configuration. It is important that your access you're using is secure.

Now, try to release the IP address with the command :

    ipconfig /release

    and then :

    ipconfig /renew

MAC address need not be changed to connect to internet, unless the cable modem you have is configured in such a way that it only connects to a particular MAC address.

The solution is to change the settings in the cable modem or the router you have.

Please specify the following details
1. if you have windows click on start and click on run(for xp) and type cmd and hit enter
2. type ipconfig and hit enter
3. Find out what is the IP address specified there it should be in the format - 192.x.x.x
4. Note down the address against default gateway

Do the same thing for both the computer and then let us know so that we can narrow down the issue and suggest a better solution

What is the exact model number of your wireless adapter?

You may refer to this link for a compatible list of devices with Windows 7.

Also, please refer to this link on how to manually install the drivers.

If you are using the WUSB54GC v3, this will work with Win 7 using the Windows Vista driver.

Below are drivers that you may download from the Linksys website for WUSB54GC v3.

Vista computer will not boot 1 out of 3 times with linksys usb

Power off the computer.
Power on the system and as soon as you see the Dell logo please tap the F2 button 3 - 4 times.
You'll reach the system setup screen. Look for an option for BOOT. Disabled Boot form network and BOOT from USB. Save and exit from the system setup. This should do the trick.

When I installed my Linksys WUSB54GSC Adapter my computer will not boot up. I have Windows Vista. The computer is new.

Disconnect the usb adapter and see if your computer still boots up. If it does, try connecting the adapter on another usb port and see what happens. If your PC will still not boot up using another usb port, try the adapter on a 2nd computer. If 2nd PC fails to boot up when the adapter is plugged in, most likely the adapter is faulty.

Good Signal,Good Mbps, Slow Internet Connection?

1. Try to use a different wireless adapter on all available USB ports, if the problem remains then
2. turn off your PC unplug the power cord from the power socket, short the two legs of the power cable then leave it for 5min, then plug it into the power socket again and turn on the PC.

if this didnt work then you have a hardware problem with the USB ports.

let me know how it works out.
