Re: Print is Smudged
You may try
1) clean the cartridge nozzles with dry soft paper
2) clean the cartridge carriage down side surface there might be bled ink.
3) check the cartridge up side there is the lable cover the ink refill hole is ok, no any lable stick there you need put stick lable there.

Most Canon printers have a clean print heads function. Search the menus until you find it. This is maintenance you should perform on your printer routinely. Once you do that and it still is smudged, remove the ink cartridges and clean the end of them carefully (you don't want ink to go everywhere). Look where the cartridge(s) connect to the print head. They may be dirty as well and need to be cleaned. Go to the following website and they go into specifics on how to clean your printer: How to Clean Clogged Printer Heads
First of all..do u refill ur toner?? if so i advise u to get a new original one and refill that..do refill the same toner for more than 3 times. Secondly, How old is ur printer and how many pages do u print weekly..or u be better off buying a new one...Finally, I think the problem is with the heated rubber rollers that are not melting the charged toner particles causing it to smudge. try cleaning the printer by removing any dust...i prefer that u try it out with a new toner and see if u have a same problem.
hello, some of the time the color ink cartridge can cause the problem, especially if its a refilled ink, but at same time, i do know some of the new inks right out of the box will fail. so try with a new color cartridge first.
I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge? Please consider the following: If you are using a refilled (theabsolute worst possible choice) or third party cartridges (2nd. Worst possible choice) that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges. They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors. If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges Don
epson uses pigmented ink and compatibles use dyes and thus if the paper is not of good quality then you can have this problem.
do the following
change the paper and try.
As there will be ink in the head and the ink feed tubes , print some 10 -15 copies of all color prints so that the original ink starts to get into the head and then the paper.
this should solve your problem
Also use your printer every 2 -3 days if you dont have any prints then give a noozle check and then switch off the printer. This will avoid the printer from doing a head clean very time you switch on the printer and also the ink will give you more output as there is less amount of head cleaning
