Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Unable to open programs from start menu

I am unable to open anything from Start> All Programs>. I can open anything from the Desktop.  If I try to click on anything from Start> All Programs>, I can not left or right click on any of it.  Also I am unable to open any bookmarks from internet explorer, but chrome or firefox I can.

    How long have you had this issue? Did you get the computer used or as a display model? Have you reinstalled windows since the issue began?

Desktop Short Cut Missing

Hello,Some times your Desktop shortcuts or Start Menu Disappeared.It is happening due to Error Occurred in Explorer.exe. You can Clear this Error without Formatting.Just Do Following..
  1. Copy "explorer.exe" from other clean computer (from C:WINDOWS)
  2. And Paste it In your computer go to C:WINDOWS
  3. Show hidden files from (Tools - Folder Options - View - Show hidden files and folders)
  4. Delete existing 'explorer.exe' and any other files start with explorer...
  5. Put the new file (explorer.exe)
  6. Log off / Restart
  7. Log on

Internet explorer is not visible on desktop

Find a Missing Internet Explorer Icon in Windows XP
  • Step 1 Click the "Start" button. Click on "All Programs." Look for an icon called "Internet Explorer." Right-click the icon. Select "Copy" from the menu.
  • Step 2 Find a blank space on your Desktop and right-click on it. Select "Paste" from the menu. You should see a new icon called "Internet Explorer." Double-click it to make sure that it works.
  • Step 3 Open "My Computer" on your Desktop if you were unable to find the Internet Explorer icon in "All Programs." Double-click the "C:" drive. Double-click "Program Files." Open the folder named "Internet Explorer."
  • Step 4 Select the "iexplore.exe" icon and right-click on it. Choose "Create Shortcut" from the menu. Scroll down to the bottom of the window. Right-click the "Shortcut to iexplore.exe" icon. Click "Copy."
  • Step 5 Paste the icon to your Desktop. Open it to make sure it works.
  • Step 6 Click the "Start" button and select "Search" from the menu if you are unable to find the "iexplore.exe" icon in your Program Files folder. Search for "iexplore.exe." Locate the file. Right-click it to create a shortcut. Paste the shortcut to your Desktop.

  • Step 4 Open the "{871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}" key on the right side of the screen. Change the value to "0" to show the icon on your Desktop.

    Unable to open window movie maker

    Try the system restore. Select the latest restore point before the problem occur. You can access system restore at START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/SYSTEM TOOLS.

    Start Task bar not showing

    Press the Windows key to open the Start menu, then right-click the start button and choose properties.

    Next, go to the task bar tab and

    Try to boot into safe mode (by pressing F8 while booting).& in safe mode try to disable start up programs(by typeing msconfig in RUN)...

    Programs not opening

    You can try going to this site and running Trend Mico's Housecall on your pc to check for viruses and spyware.

    If that doesn't help you can try PC Pit Stop.

    first time error means your internal batery is feilure you have change the batery for programs you have to set the programs acces default goto control panel , taskbar and start menu and select the way you want to use your start up programs
