Question about Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook

1 Answer

I forgot the password to the Admin. I use Vista

Ok this is what i'm trying to do.

I'm trying to install a Wireless-G PCI Adapter onto my nieces computer. I thought this would be easy but I've run into some problems 1st problem: My niece doesn't remember the Admin Pswd (but I can log in as other users, no pswd set up),
2nd problem: Her CD Drive doesn't work (needs drivers therefore I can't use an Installation CD).
Problem 3: If I were to do a recovery or restoration; How do I do that? if I can't run anything on the CD-rom.

Please help...I'm not very technical but I'll try to do what you suggest.
Your help is appreciated : )

I cant log onto my computer because i forgot my password . i am online from my homecomputer right now though looking for soloutions but can't find ANYTHING . i have the Acer eMachines eM2501162 Netbook...

Essentially if you forgot your password you will generally have to re-format as the passwords are secure so hackers cant get in or whats the point of having the password.

Thanks.

1st drive oxc 0000034 msg. forgot admin pw so only user on 2nd dr

There's this:
http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/download.php?type=livecd
(There's an XP version and a Vista one.  Download the version for whatever is on your machine)

...it's a CD image that you burn to a CD, then boot from.  It uses rainbow tables to (hopefully) find your admin password.  Armed with your admin password, you should be able to restore.

Good luck!

My wireless modem is not working

3.Configure your wireless router
Using the network cable that came with your wireless router, you should temporarily connect your computer to one of the open network ports on your wireless router (any port that isn't labeled Internet, WAN, or WLAN). If you need to, turn your computer on. It should automatically connect to your router.
Next, open Internet Explorer and type in the address to configure your router.
You might be prompted for a password. The address and password you use will vary depending on what type of router you have, so refer to the instructions included with your router.
As a quick reference, this table shows the default addresses, usernames, and passwords for some common router manufacturers.
Router
Address

Internet Explorer will show your router's configuration page. Most of the default settings should be fine, but you should configure three things:
  1. Your wireless network name, known as the SSID. This name identifies your network. You should choose something unique that none of your neighbors will be using.
  2. Wireless encryption (WEP) or Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), which help protect your wireless network. For most routers, you will provide a passphrase that your router uses to generate several keys. Make sure your passphrase is unique and long (you don't need to memorize it).
  3. Your administrative password, which controls your wireless network. Just like any other password, it should not be a word that you can find in the dictionary, and it should be a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols. Be sure you can remember this password, because you'll need it if you ever have to change your router's settings.
The exact steps you follow to configure these settings will vary depending on the type of router you have. After each configuration setting, be sure to click Save Settings, Apply, or OK to save your changes.
Now, you should disconnect the network cable from your computer.
4. Connect your computers to the wireless network If your computer does not have wireless network support built in, plug your network adapter into your USB port, and place the antenna on top of your computer (in the case of a desktop computer), or insert the network adapter into an empty PC card slot (in the case of a laptop). Windows will automatically detect the new adapter, and may prompt you to insert the CD that came with your adapter. The on-screen instructions will guide you through the configuration process.

If you cannot log on to Windows by using a particular user account, but you can log on to another account that has administrative credentials, follow these steps on how to do the trick:
  1. Log on to Windows by using an administrator account that has a password that you remember. You may need to start WinXP in safe mode.
  2. Click Start, and then click Run.
  3. In the Open box, type “control userpasswords2′, and then click OK.
  4. Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password.
  5. Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.

Forgot password to hp laptop how do i reset it.

I don't know what OS your HP laptop is installed with.

If it is Windows 8, Windows Password Hint, PIN code, Microsoft account can be used to login HP laptop. After logon successfully, change, recover or reset Windows 8 password is available.

If it is Windows 7, Password hint or another administrator account may help you. But if you don't have all of these, try password reset disk. Create it before Windows 8 locked or with Windows 8 Password Recovery tool is OK.
Besides these, Chntpw USB disk also works for Windows 7/Vista etc.
