You need some form of software to port it out. Basically, you can use windows sound recorder and hear it for the duration of the recording and play it back that way but it's only 30 seconds at a time. You need software to feedback the audio all the time. Maybe DJ software or something like that would do the trick.

How can i download my cassettes to my computer

If you want to be fancy, a company called ION makes a cassette player that plugs into a USB port on your computer. You can look at it here. The unit comes with software to capture the audio as you play your tapes.

You can also connect the tape player you already have to your computer's line-in audio jack. You'll need a cable with a 1/8-inch mini stereo plug at one end to fit the computer, and the appropriate plug(s) at the other end for the cassette player. If you use a boombox or other portable deck, the cable will need the same mini stereo plug and you can use the headphone jack. For a component cassette deck you'll need RCA plugs. Download and install Audacity, which is free software for recording and editing sound. With Audacity, you have tools to process the sound after it's in your computer to split tracks, add effects if you want, and to try cleaning up hiss or other quality problems. It's a great way to preserve tapes with voices of family members!

Question (not a "problem") -

Yes, you can. You need a cable (A 3.5 to 3.5 audio jack - you can buy it for a few bucks at your local store) that plugs into the Microphone jack in the computer and the Headphone jack in the cassette player. After that, use a recording software (Such as AudaCity) and select the input microphone as the recording device. All you have to do, is press Record in the software and push play on the player. Good luck and best regards,Yuri.

How do i hook up my mp3 player to this car cd player

The only way to play an mp3 player through this head unit is through an adapter. You will need to go to Best Buy or some electronics store and buy a cd-to-cassette adapter. You just plug the adapter into the mp3 player's headphone jack and insert the cassette into the head unit. Let the cassette play and play your music through the mp3 player and boom, you have a mp3-capable head unit.

Casette to disc

to convert music from cassett to disk u need to connect the cassett player headphone jack / line out jack to ur PC/laptop mike / line in jack....then play the music and record it in a software(Nero Sound editor etc)
then once that's done save it as mp3 file on to ut PC and trf it to ur cd/disk....u can just copy it as mp3 or create a music cd using Nero...from the mp3 file
the difference is if u just copy the mp3 on to the cd then only a mp3 player/mp3 music system deck can play it... if it's created as a music cd then any cd player can play it....just like any music cd that u buy in the mkt...
a 700 mb disk can hold almost 7 to 10 hrs of music in mp3 format....
but a music disk can hold only 80 mins of music

I would like to listen to music/programs/instructions with head phones. I plug in but get no sound through head phones. Can you tell me how to do this? I have a TravelMate 5520-5568 Thank you

From everything I've read and tried over the years it all points to the same thing. Because there is such a big imedence mismatch between standard headphones and laptop output jacks, that they never seem to quite work. I have seen a couple machines that the sound works fine but for the most part the sound is either dull or tiney.

Ipod to Kenwood 208 S

Get a cassette to ipod hook up. They are just black cassette tapes with a cord coming out that plugs into your ipods earphone jack. They're usually around $20.00

Converter of audio cassettes to CDs

Get a computer with an audio input or soundcard. Like a Mac with garageband and a soundcard. connect both with a male 1/8" to male 1/8" cable. Press play on the tape deck, record on the computer. Once done, edit and trim the beginning and end. Import to itunes. Create a playlist. Burn to cd. Simple.
