The printer will not install to our computer.

download the driver from the dell website for your printer onto your computer

There are two possibilities. Maybe drivers does not support the operating system, or maybe the wrong drivers installed.

1. Download drivers from Canon Support & Download
2. Select Product category = Multifunctional Inkjet Printers
3. Product series = Pixma
4. Model = Pixma MP258
5. Document type = Drivers & Softwares, then click Find
6. Select OS = Example; Linux

How to install the the printer driver
Install the printer driver, then connect the USB to the computer. If the USB cable is plugged into the computer, then install the new driver, happens is the failure of drivers install process.

Solution to fix the drivers install error
1. Unplug the USB cable from the printer, to the computer.
2. Uninstall all software and drivers are already installed, then restart the computer.
3. Insert the Driver CD, do the install process. About a 90% of the install process, it would come the request "connect the printer to the computer".
4. Connect the USB cable, with a computer.
5. The computer will detect the printer, and install process will continue until completed. After the install is complete, the printer is ready to use.

Print head alignment, to configure the printer and computer.
- After the print head alignment is completed, the printer is ready to use.

Install the wrong driver canon
- Connect the printer to the computer, then perform install process.
- Solution: disconnect the USB cable from the printer to the computer, then uninstall the drivers and applications that are already installed, then restart the computer.
- Repeat the process to install in the correct way.

It could be a communications error message, the printer is not communicating with the computer.

Disconnect and then reconnect the USB cable.

Disconnect and then reconnect the printer power cable.

Restart the computer.

Remove and reinstall the printer software

If your printer does not function properly or communication error messages appear when using your printer, you can remove and reinstall the printer software.

1. Click Start®Programs or All Programs®Dell Printers®Dell Photo AIO Printer 962®Uninstall Dell Photo AIO Printer 962.
   
   
2. Follow the instructions on the computer screen to remove the printer software.
   
   
3. Restart your computer before installing the software again.
   
   
4. Insert the Drivers and Utilities CD, and then follow the instructions on the computer screen to install the software.

Try this, Disconnect the USB printer connection.
Remove the printer from the printer list. The list should be empty.
Re-boot your computer.
Check and make sure their are no other printers in list.
Find your install disks for the printer.
If you do not have a install disk, go to HP and download the printer installation files.
Install the software and do not plugin the printer until it is asked for.
After you install the new drivers and software the printer should be seen by the computer.

You have to install the software onto the computer first then plug the printer in. Since you did not say much I assumed you tried to just plug the printer in and have it work lol. The drivers have to be installed first so the computer can recognize the printer. After you get the printer installed on the computer make sure to make the lexmark the default printer if you have more then one printer installed onto the computer. I always keep my old printers so I can plug the old ones with out problems later. Hope this helps and good luck =)

to clarify this, you need to install the printer in a computer that is connected to a Local Area Network lets call it computer 1. Once the printer is connected to the computer 1, share the printer by going to the start/settings/ printers. Right click on the lexmark e120 printer and click share. Click share this printer. Once done the printer that is connect to computer 1 is now on the network. on the other computer lets call it computer 2, to to start/settings/printer and click add printer/ select network printer and then browse the printer in the network and select it so that it will be added. Now you computer 2 has a network printer installed. try printing, make sure not to turn off the computer 1 when printing, or else it wont print.

Remember that unplug the printer and that start the installation of the printer. You need to plug in the printer to the computer when prompted to do the same during the installation.

installing a printer to your new computer is a relatively simple process. If you are "networking" your printer, simply go to your old computer, right click the printer in printers and faxes, and "share" it to the network. then come to the new computer and find the share name when installing the printer from the network.

if you're installing it locally to the new computer, i would advise using your factory installation CD for the drivers, but if you do not have it you can go to the manufacturer's website and look for the appropriate drivers for your printer and operating system. download them, hook up the printer like your normally would (USB or Parallel cable) and install the drivers. Most manufacturer programs will "install" the printer on your system automatically from there, however some will require you to go to the printers and faxes module of windows and "add" a printer (use the drivers you just installed when it asks for them)
