Samsung cassette air conditioner keeps switching off

Hi I have two Samsung AVXCM casette style ac units and they both switch off automatically after running for a couple of minutes. Both the fan and the timer light come on when the units cut off? Any ideas what might be causing this?

Many thanks

Why would this effect both at the same time?- if it only effected one then I could understand however its the same for both. I would think its unlikely to have a problem with the thermostst in both at the same time?

You can set this timer to the length of time you want to wait for the air conditioner to come back on from .03 of a second to 10 minutes. What this timer does is delay the amount of time you want your air conditioner to come on when low voltage power is applied to the timer. This low voltage timer is simple to install. *Some of the new thermostats have this delay feature built into them. If you have a thermostat that has this delay feature. If you want to protect your air conditioning system from short cycling and possible compressor damage, then the Delay on Make timer is for you! Please remember to turn off all power when working on air conditioning equipment.

You need to solve this problem
    by purchasing a new contactor

You will need to call a service technician to charge up your system if
it is low. Now EPA require that you be licensed and certified to purchase and
    use refrigerants.
    5.
Inspect your wiring to make sure that you do not have any burnt connections.
Repair the burnt connections if you have some.
    6.
Inspect the capacitor/capacitors to see if they are swollen looking. If they are
swollen purchase a new capacitor from our capacitor
    7.
Take the compressor terminal cover off and inspect the terminals on the
    compressor.

Hi,

Offhand, I would have to agree that it is highly unlikely for two units to exhibit identical symptoms/faults in the same time frame. Might it have been an external factor? Was there anything out of the ordinary prior to the fault? Power interruption/outages, thunder storm or near lightning strike, any continuous rain lately, or anything noteworthy. Perhaps you could try a hard reset if the units have such a key/button/feature or simulate a reset by unplugging from the mains for an extended period of time. Incidentally, it may be worth your while to have the voltage checked at the outlet themselves.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

let me know if you need more information...kevin

Hi My Carrier AC getting switched off automatically after two minutes.. Please help me

Your unit is probably going out on high limit. This could be caused by a bad condenser fan motor. Check to see if the outdoor unit is dirty. If it is, take a hose and wash the coil. It the coil isn't dirty, you really need a qualified service person to come take a look at this.

Trips when plugged in

AC pulling to much power from outlet. Thus tripping the switch.
try to remove all that is plugged into this outlet and have only the AC plug into the outlet.

If you live in an apartment, there might be a dedicated plug for AC. Ask the super.
