Re: Hitachi C12FDH single bevel compound miter saw. Bevel setting reads 0 degrees but it is not. I'm trying to install baseboards. Every bevel cut angles in from top to bottom about 1/8". How to fix?

Most saws of this type plus many others need checking and if necessary calibrating when delivered and from time-to-time during use.

There are usually adjustable stops and often moveable scales so when checked against known accurate squares and angles suitable adjustments can be made. Sometimes the stops aren't adjustable and metal must be removed by filing or added by bonding a suitable shim.

One point of concern with many saws of the type is the position of the handle is often offset from the centre line of the pivot with the result; the force needed to overcome the resistance of the return spring is also offset and tends to twist the mechanism during the cut - the typical mechanism is not usually strong enough or built with sufficient precision to completely resist the twisting force which often results in a less than accurate cut even though the angle has been accurately set.

Knowing this the user can compensate by holding the handle differently or applying a twisting force in the opposite direction. With practice you will become familiar with the tool...

How do I get to the black toner reading on a Sharp AR-M257 copier

Hold down the Copy button and you should see a readout for the total copies printed from the copier and the percentage of toner left in the unit.

Myprint totals say zero.

Press the counter check button. What counters do you see. There can be up to 6 different ones I believe. What counter numbers do you see e.g. 101: Total 1
Counters to display can be set using Service Mode. Press Additional Functions > 2,8 > Additional Functions.
Copier > Option > User > COUNTER1,COUNTER2,COUNTER3,COUNTER4,COUNTER5,COUNTER6
Default's are COUNTER1: 101, COUNTER2: 103, COUNTER3: 201, COUNTER4: 203. COUNTER5, COUNTER6 none.
You could try entering those counters.
The counters could have been reset. It is apparently possible but certainly not advisable to do so without permission from Canon.

Hi, i have 2pcs of canon iR2016 Digital copiers which displays error codes of E246 AND E247. these errors are not in the service manual, please help

Sir i am a Canon trained tech. I just checked our website and my service information. I found the following. I suspect someone has been working on these machines or swapped some parts around.

MODELS AFFECTED / SERIAL NUMBERS AFFECTED:
Digital Copiers, Including All imageRUNNER Products
SUBJECT:
Information About The New Soft Counter Circuits
GENERAL TECHNICAL INFORMATION
GENERAL:
This Technical Publication presents information about the new Soft Counter circuit that replaces the mechanical counter
used in the past. There are three (3) PCB’s associated with the new Soft Counter circuit; the Counter Memory PCB,
Main Controller PCB and the Serial Number PCB. A description of their function is provided below. Use this
document as a reference for current and future models that use the Soft Counter circuit.
Counter Memory PCB
On the latest Canon digital copiers, such as the imageRUNNER 5000, imageRUNNER 8500 and imageRUNNER 2200
series, there are no mechanical counters. Instead there is a Counter Memory PCB. This PCB is usually mounted on the
Main Controller PCB with one screw. The Counter Memory PCB is imprinted with the serial number of the machine
the first time power is turned ON and cannot be moved to another machine. Attempting to do so will generate an E246
error code. In the event of a Counter Memory PCB failure, a new one from stock (see Note 4) can be installed into the
machine. At that point the Main Controller PCB will transfer its present total count as indicated in “Counter Check” on
the control panel (recorded the last time power was turned OFF) to the new Counter Memory PCB and the total counter
will increment from that count on. Never attempt to operate a machine without the Counter Memory PCB
installed!
This may generate an E245 code, which can only be cleared by “zeroing out” the Main Controller PCB by
one of our A.P.R.F.’s (Authorized Parts Repair Facilities).
Main Controller PCB
The Main Controller PCB, aside from performing other tasks, retains the total count by means of SRAM with a battery
back up after power has been turned OFF. If, however, the Main Controller PCB has been replaced with either a new
one or a used one, it will read in and record the total count from the Counter Memory PCB retained the last time power
was turned OFF. The total count will then increment from that count on.
Note 1:
Even though the total count will be the correct value for that machine after replacing the Main Controller, the soft
counters in Service Mode will not. If a new Main Controller was used for the replacement, then all soft counters in
Service Mode (service counters in “Counter Mode”) will be zero. If, on the other hand, a used Main Controller was
used for this replacement, the soft counters previously recorded on that PCB would be shown. At that point it is
advisable to clear these values in Service Mode using Function>Clear>CNT-MCON.
All Main Controllers sent to our A.P.R.F.’s for repair will be “zeroed out” before being sent back to the dealer.

Note 2:
The Counter Memory PCB and the Main Controller PCB should never be replaced simultaneously!
This will
generate an E354 code and assistance from the Canon Reseller Technical Support Center Hotline will be required. If
the Main Controller is sent to one of our A.P.R.F.’s for repair, you must remove the Counter Memory PCB
before sending it out!
Failure to do so will only increase down time for your customer.
Note 3:
If the Main Controller PCB is replaced, ensure that connector J1023 is connected. If it is not, an E350 will be
generated.
Serial Number PCB
The Serial Number PCB’s main function is to identify the machine’s serial number. This PCB cannot be moved to
another machine.
Attempting to do so will generate an E355 and assistance from the Canon Reseller TechnicalError codes not listed in the Service Manual:
There are various error codes that are not listed in the Service Manual. Canon U.S.A., Inc. reserves the right to treat
these error codes as Proprietary Information. If you encounter any of the following error codes, contact your Canon

E245 E246 E247 E350 E354 E355
Note 4:
Please be advised that Canon U.S.A., Inc. treats the Counter Memory PCB and Serial Number PCB as “restricted” parts.
When a dealer orders these components they will be asked to provide the reason for their replacement, and the original
PCB will have to be returned to Canon U.S.A., Inc. for evaluation.

Voltage drop test

First, check battery post to cable connection: positive meter lead on battery positive post, negaitve lead on battery's positive cable clamp. Crank the engine and note the reading. A good connection should have zero voltage drop. Second, check the positive cable: positve meter lead on positive battery clamp, negative lead on starter terminal connector. A good cable will show a voltage drop of .2 volts or less while cranking. Third, check the starter connection: positive meter lead on positive battery terminal on the solenoid, negative meter lead on actual starter stud. A good connection will have a voltage drop of near zero volts. Now to check the negative side of the circuit. Total drop on the ground side should be .3 volts or less and can be checked by placing positive meter lead on starter housing and negative meter lead on battery ground post. Take your reading while cranking the engine, and be sure your connection at the starter is solid and clean. If total voltage drop on this side of the circuit is excessive, complete testing at all connections in the same fashion as the positive side of the circuit. Check the following: between battery post and clamp (zero voltage drop), cable end at battery to cable end at engine. (.2 volts or less), cable end at engine to engine itself (near zero voltage drop), and finally between starter housing and engine block (.1 volts or less).

A E005 is the cleaning web counter. If you have replaced the cleaning you can reset the web counter in service mode under counters... The service switch is right next to the total meter in the front of the inside cover of the copier.... Once you press it you will see a little "$" sign shows and hit the "*" "6""*" and courser down the the web counter. You have to hold down the Clear botton and the hit the service switch to reset the counter back to zero... Good Luck
