I know this isn't the best solution, but my Logitech Harmony 720 remote controls my hts3450 just fine (volume included).

My remote is bad and need to increase the volume manually on Samsung ht-txq120 home theatre system

If your remote won't work at all, then you'll need to get a new remote from Samsung to control all functions. If however, everything works on the remote but the volume, keep the original for all other functions and just use a cheap universal remote programmed to the Samsung code to control the volume. I had the same thing happen on a Sony THIB remote for a HT. I used a Scientific Atlanta to turn it on and off, as well as control the volume, but retained the original remote so I could get at all other functions. If you have to buy a new Samsung remote or if you buy one of those high-dollar universal remotes that program a zillion functions it will cost you big. Fair warning.

fechegaray,

if you do a search on HTS3450 (same unit) you will find a thread with similar problems. My problem was similar and today I fixed it by changing 2 capacitors in the unit.

I bought the magnavox and all my channels are

Check the converter box. Many have a volume setting that is usually set very low at the factory. On the remote control for the converter check to see if there are volume buttons. If so, change the converter box volume higher, to a level that makes the TV audio level "normal", then use the volume control on the TV for adjustment as you watch. If you set the volume on the converter box too high, you may get some distortion in the audio from your TV. So adjust the converter box to find the proper output from your TV without distortion.

HTS3450 from Phillips, have video but no audio

I have been quite involved with a sound problem in my HTS3450 (search for the topic "sound in only 3 channels"), and I learned that when you are in the setup menu the speaker volume will be greyed out if there is a disc in the tray...remove the disc, wait for the "disc loading" dialogue to switch to "no disc", the try accessing the setup menu again. Other than that I have no advise if you once had proper function after moving the system. Check out my experiences with the cable connecting the sub to the DVD/receiver in my postings. Good luck. Remote has stopped working for Philips LX3000 D

The remote control might be damaged. If it is possible to arrange a new remote for testing, do it. volume control of LX3000D works from the front PCB. check the front PCB is perfectly ok or not. Regarding the DVD player, what it says when you try to load a disk?

Remote Control

Try pressing one of the source buttons on the remote.  The power button will NOT turn ON the system, and is only used for turning the machine OFF.

Assuming your speaker wires are securely connected, and that you have tried more than 1 or 2 DVD's, access your main menu via your Remote Control and Restore Defaults. If you still cannot get even so much as noise, manually turn your volume control, and ensure that the LED lights follow your turning movement. It has a fairly fancy volume controller, and if the carbon liner witin the physical volume control is cracked, you cannot adjust the volume even if you use your remote.
