Not typing any letters

The daisy wheel and ribbon are installed correctly and the cassette is latched (plenty of good ribbon). Nothing is typing when I hit a key.

The printhammer/wheel may not be latched into place. there is a black lever on the right side of the printhammer. you pull it towards you to remove the printwheel and forward to latch it into place. otherwise the machine will probably need repair, or just go to a thrift shop and you can pick one up for $10 to $25 dollars. just plug it in and try before you buy.

How do i set a new daisy wheel for the ML 100

1. Open the top cover.
2. Pull the lever towards you to release the daisy wheel lock.
3. Remove the cassette daisy wheel by pulling it out of the machine by the protruding "ear' on the top right.
4. Insert the desired cassette daisy wheel into the slot and press down gently.
5. Slide the lever back to its' original position to lock the cassette daisy wheel in place. Make sure to press the lever firmly.
6. Close the top cover.
7. Press [CODE]+[RESET] to move the carrier to the previous position.
(make sure the daisy wheel cassette is not inserted backwards. The "ear" should always be on the upper right.
improper insertion of the daisy wheel may cause malfunction and incorrect printing.
It is not necessary to remove the cassette ribbon when replacing the daisy wheel.
Please check the shape of your daisy wheel cassette before replacing the daisy wheel. The daisy wheel cassette type "B" cannot be used with this machine.)

How to install daisy printwheel and cassette ribbon on Sears electric typewriter Model #161.53024650

Nobody wants to try so i'll give it a shot. All Sears typewriters are made by some one else. ROYAL, SCM, Olivetti ETC.) Most daisy wheels are released with a lever just l. or r. of the wheel pull it towards you and remove the wheel. There are 2 basic types of ribbon the ones that are released by a lever and those that just snap in.

Hope I was helpful

You do'nt say what make. Turn the machine off. Check the daisy wheel is in correctly, check the ribbon cassette is in correctly, and check the lift off tape is not tangled in the daisy wheel.

Swintec 4000; type writer ribbon will not stay on and when it stays on - nothing prints out, and the ribbon jams up

Hello- Of course the cheapest fix, is to try a second ribbon. If you need one we have them at FJAproducts.com

Most often the reason the ribbon cassette will not stay in place is due to not being seated properly. I am sure you have taken it out a few times and re installed it, but that is "normally" the only reason it "jumps up" one more thing to check in the lever near the daisy wheel. if it got bumped or unlocked the daisy wheel your ribbon will not seat properly.

Good luck.

Daisy wheel will not stay on wordsmith 100

CHANGING Changing The Ribbon Cassette 1) Move the print carrier to the center of the platen using the SPACE or BS key. 2) Hold the ribbon cassette on both sides and lift up the front portion (where the ribbon is exposed) to remove the cassette. 3) To insert a new cassette, place the back end of the cassette on the cassette holder on the carrier and gently press down on the front of the cassette unit it clicks into place. 4) Turn the ribbon feed knob counter-clockwise again to take up any slack in the ribbon. 5) Presss the CODE + = (SETTING) key.

Changing The Print Wheel 1) Move the print carrier to the center of the platen using the SPACE or BS key. 2) You will see a lever on the right side of the carrier. Pull this lever toward you and lift out the daisy wheel. 3) Place the daisy wheel into the slot with the characters facing the platen. 4) Push the lever back into position. 5) Press the CODE + = (SETTING) key.
It appears as though you have something that is preventing the print wheel from being locked in place by the release lever. It should make a snapping or similar noise when it is locked down.

Almost Fixed. Stricker works, but sticking

This part yu take off, the pin goes into a slot that goes around inside a cam. If you have that pin not in the slot you will get this lock up. Try taking the part you mentioned out or remove wht is called the ribbon plate, which is the part where the ribbon sets on, then turn the machine on or wind the printer motor by hand to home out or bring the printing unit to the home or start position, turn off and very carefully install the parts you tokk off making sure the pin in the ribbon lift (The small part yout ook off on the right side of the printer) is in the correct cam track or small track or canal. Once installed you can rotate the motor by hand an see if it moves freely. GOOD LUCK

Brother ML100 Typewriter:All of the sudden, it just won't type. It seems the 'hammer' doesn't hit the daisywheel. We've replaced the daisywheel, corrective tape, ribbon and still it goes through the...

Ok,there could be two possibilities ,1, The daisy wheel may not be seated in properly. Of course I assume that the print side of the daisy wheel is facing the platen and that when the typewriter is switched on the print unit makes its customary re-setting motion and that the daisy wheel spins around at the same time. if this does not happen make sure that the lock-in lever for the daisy wheel is pushed home.. I am sure that you do all these elementary things so the only other possibility is the the hammer seleniod is not fully functioning and would have to be re-placed....Good luck!
