You can connect it to your old monitor. As a safe method before connecting the lcd monitor to the old system go to ---- control panel --- display. Double click on it and select settings ----- advanced

Here select - monitor---->monitor settings ---> screen refresh rate. Select a low refresh rate (60 or 70,72). Press apply then ok.

Switch off the pc and remove the old monitor and connect the lcd monitor. It will work.

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. For you to be able to change the resolution of the screen you need to install the driver of your video card or onboard video and it will fix the problem.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Morning start-up of monitor takes a long time. "Analog" appears at top left, then picture goes off. After turning monitor off-on many times, monitor eventually stays on and works fine the rest of the...

This is usually caused by the video card doens't have enough power or is degraded, the video cable is bad/poor.
Connect the monitor to another computer and verify that it isn't the monitor. If so, confirm that it is the monitor. Otherwise it is the video card.
If it is embedded video card, purchase/borrow another video card and install it. If you don't replace the card, you will have to disable the embedded video for the video card to work.

video card may not be capable of that resolution and color depth, check your video cards max resolution and color depth.
I have several lcd monitors that are 1280x 1024 and they do not need drivers to work. the video card must be capable of generating that resolution.
