Question about Dell Latitude C640 Notebook

Dell Inspirion E1405 will not boot

When I click on the user on the welcome screen, it says "loading personal setting"... and soon after ..."LOGGING OFF" and I'am right back where I started.
Will not work in safe mode.
What can I do?

All this does is make it so that these programs no longer start as your computer is starting so that any error in the running of the programs doesn't interfere with logging in to your account.

MY SON CANT REMEMBER WINDOW PASSWORD ON DELL LAPTOP


1. Reboot your machine.
2. Press F8 before the Windows boot screen appears. Do not press F5 as used on the NT/9x ser of Windows. You will be be prompted with a boot options menu.
3.Select the Start Windows in Safe Mode option.
4. Click through several self-explanatory screens until your reach the familiar 'Welcome' screen.
5.Find the icon for the Administrator user
6. The Safe Mode Welcome screen might display some of the other users on your system.
7. Login as the admin.
8. Press Yes at the prompt asking if you would like to continue using Safe Mode.
9. Continue on to the User Settings control panel.
10. Reboot your computer
11. Login as the user for which you set the password

Setting new password
  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Click the User Account.
  3. Select the account you want to to set a new password.
  4. Click changing Account and set up password, then fill out the form as listed. Click Create Password.
  5. You now have a personal login ID and Password

When i goto click my user name icon for logging into the computer it tells me loading personal setting as it normally would takes me in and then right back out within 2 sec. putting me right back to my...


Try booting into safe mode and from their you should be able to attempt a restore.
Or you can try a restoration back to factory, if you have not removed the partition.

Im having the exact same problem doesnt load past welcome screen!


Try to login in the Administrator account, press Ctrl+Alt+Del (2 or 3 times) in the welcome screen and you'll get a login square, in username name type Administrator and password leave it blank if it logins without a password go to control panel and create new accounts.

Windows XP won't load past the 'user account welcome screen'.


If you boot into safe mode* and have same problem, you might be missing a file called "userinit.exe."
It's located in the /WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 subdirectory. You can copy it from another xp computer
(suggest matching updated pro vs home files). Use your harddrive as a slave on another computer
if necessary.

*safe mode: Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard during boot up.

Then you gotta ask: how did that file get deleted? It's a popular file to attack by malware authors and
some anti-virus software will delete it as part of an infection cleansing.
