I have a Toshiba Satellite A70 and have had nothing but trouble with it since I bought it - shutting down in the middle of my working - very frustrating. Sent it off for repair in 10/05 because of suit and settlement it came worked for a short while correctly and then began shutting down again. It has now completely locked up and I am looking for a recovery disk also.. did you have any luck finding a free down load or what is the best option

Hi,

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I lost my recovery disk or restore disk for my sony vaio VGN-FE660G. If anyone could direct me in the right direction to get them.

There are no System Recovery CDs included with the computer. The recovery data required to return the computer to the original, factory-installed condition is included on a special partition of the hard drive. Follow this procedure to create the Recovery Media Kit (a set of Recovery Discs), which can be used to restore the recovery partition and return the computer to the original, factory-installed condition.
  1. Ensure all open programs are closed.
  2. Ensure all network connections are disconnected.
  3. Ensure all peripheral devices are disconnected.
  4. From within the VAIO Recovery Wizard application, in the Create Recovery Discs window, click Next.
  5. Under Create Recovery Discs (Step 1 of 3), click to select the option to use either DVD or CD media.
  6. Click the Next button.
  7. At the Insert a blank... dialog box, insert the appropriate disc.
  8. Click the OK button.
  9. Insert a new disc when necessary as instructed.
  10. When all the disks have been created, click the Finish button.

if you did a factory restore from original all should work if you did a recovery with new os or without the original recovery disc there should either be a driver and utilities disc also or you will need to go to pc manufacturers website to download drivers, another option go into bios and make sure usb legacy is selected

Acer aspire laptop recovery disc not working

I have never had any success with recovery discs and I don't know anyone who has. A recovery disc should not erase the hard drive but should repair the original software if it becomes too damaged to operate.

I am not an expert but if Windows thinks the software is compromised it provides you with the option of starting in safe mode and I think that is the only time it is possible to access safe mode. Windows has to be almost working in order to offer a safe mode option.

You didn't say how old the laptop is but I expect it is well out of warranty as Windows 7 is now considered old and outdated. I personally would not buy a new computer unless it was supplied with the official systems disc or was very, very cheap.

There is a lot of things computer boffins can do to recover and repair Windows but you would find their services much more expensive than a Windows 7 disc. Formatting the drive and reloading everything is by far the best option for ordinary folk - if your problem is solely a saftware problem and not hardware related.

If you have to save money why not try the Linux operating system that is completely free...

How do I download a recovery disk free for an acer aspire 5920?

You most likely can't. OEM system builders...HP, Acer, Lenov, DELL usually don't provide a recovery disk with their laptops so they can charge you later when you need it. This is done to keep their costs down and increase profit.

Most cases, when you got your new laptop, there were instructions to "Create Recovery discs". But 99% of most users never do.

Result: you will need to call Acer and order the recovery discs or see if anyone has them on ebay/craigslist cheaper. Acer is best bet, so you don't end up with wrong or non-working discs and prolong your problem. Should be about $25-50 including shipping.

Back to get the original vista version

Well, with any amount of luck, when you installed xp you didn't erase the recovery partition. Just boot into the recovery partition. Some laptops will let you have that option on a regular boot.

Of course, if you have the vista cd, just boot with that. You can download a free vista recovery cd here:
http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/

If that doesn't work, try to download easyBCD and hope that your vista partition shows up in xp:

Need recovery disc for an e-machine T2896

I don't know where you can download a recovery disc, BUT I do know where you can download most of the drivers you'll need to restore the PC to it's original condition. Just visit eMachines Support for the T2896 at this link. Then, click Download and you'll see all of the drivers. Click each driver you need and then burn a CD of those drivers, along with any documentation. Put that disc away -- and it can serve as your recovery CD.

I hope this helps. If it does, please rate the solution offered. My goal is always FixYa or Helpful, never TFT or IA. Regards,
