You will have to go to magellan.com & order the 2008/2009 map update. it costs a hundred bucks unless you are a caa member, then they knock off 25% or so. You can't burn a copy because they need a special code to make sure you bought it legally. Pretty smart. I just got mine & am trying to get it loaded now.

well this question might have been easier to answer if we knew what maps and what version you have. As a guide to how maps work : Map data is collected over 12 months Say 2008 it is then compiloed and sent to each GPS manufacturer to compile into the format suiatble for their GPS and the extras it can provide like voice instead of beeps etc.
This can delay it another 6 months So by the time you get it the supplied data may be 18 moths old In the meantime some areas have been added, streets changed or added. So its rare for any maps currently to be up to the minute.
Go to the Magellan site and compare the map version with what you have
Sorry, here is the bad new,
Sony Canada told me that my NAV-U70 does NOT have sufficient memory to drive the next Navteq update (which will be offered by Sony) and guess what, that update is not even available yet, may be in a couple months or weeks, Sony don't even know when!!!
After spending over 500 CDN$ (tax incl) for my NAV-U70 2 years ago at Best Buy store, Sony Canada do not care at all either Best Buy, they offered me 100$ which I can use on other Sony products, well... will I buy something else from Sony... not sure! :-(
Here's a link to the website for your unit. If you click on the 3rd line under "facts" it will take you to a page where you can register to receive map updates. Good luck. If this helps you plz rate this. Thank you kindly.
The only way to update the maps is to purchase new maps from Garmin and download them via the computer. The 2008 map updates are currently available, and Garmin has told me new maps will be out in a few months.
There are several cities with the same name in different states and therefore the street names would be different. However if you are first entering the state and then the city and the street name dosent show , then you will need to update the map on the GPS. For this you will need to contact customer service.
