Question about HP PSC 2355 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have one that is a printer, scanner, and copier.
I'm normally able to scan things perfectly, but a few times, like right now, it won't let me.
It say on the top "No Scan Options" when I press Scan To.. or START SCAN, and gives info that "You need to install or run HP software for this feature".
I may not fully know what this means, but my computer and printer are plugged in, and I do not know what to install or run.
It can't be something I haven't installed either, as I've already had it a few years.
What is wrong with it? Thanks. (:
You need to start the HP software that's installed on your PC.
In Win XP, go to Start menu, look down the list of installed programs, and click on HP Director to start it up. Your scanner should work now, either from the scan buttons on the printer, or from the scan options within HP Director.

Turn off your device. Unplug the power cord (leave USB connected) and
hold the number 9. Plug it back in and turn it on. This is a factory
reset. If this doesn't fix your problem, read below:
Go to your Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs. Remove everything "HP...." that's related to your all-in-one. This includes imaging software (don't worry, you'll get it back).
Go to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=uk&lang=en&dlc=en&product=422000 and install the 274.78MB drivers & software. Let HP install all the trash software they always load your machine with, otherwise you'll run into the same problems.
Turn it on when it prompts you to do so. This will reinstall everything and fix all of your problems. If not, try the factory reset option above after all the software has been reinstalled fresh.

The product displays an 0x ... error code when printing (for example
Error: 0xf0af8004 ). These error codes
indicate that the product has an internal condition.
Use the instructions below to resolve the issue by
restarting the product.
Thank you so much. I Remain

Is it the same memory card each time? If so, try with a different memory card.
If it's with all the different cards, verify that there is nothing wrong with the connector that the memory card touches.

My first thought would be to un-install then re-install the software. If you have already tried this then HP has a useful solution here :

Please perform the steps below and check
1. Right click on My Computer and go down to Properties.
My Computer is usually on your desktop or in the Windows Start menu. Click on the Advanced tab at the top of the screen.
2. Under the Performance section, click on Settings.
3. Click on the Advanced tab.
4. Under Processor scheduling click on Background Services. Click on Ok then Ok again.
If the issue still persists please get back to me with the Operating System of the computer

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
