Question about GE JTP48 Electric Double Oven

1 Answer

GE electric double oven

The lower oven does not heat. Both of the elements are only receiving 120V ac. The oven shows no error indicators or messages. The relays seem to activate to turn oven on. I saw a manual resettable thermal swithch on the schemetic but I cannot phyically locate that switch. The top oven works fine both bake and broil. Colin Quinn

Colin, the TCO is located on the back of the oven. It will open L2 to the heating element in the event it is open. If this TC0 opens it will not show any error codes. This is for the 27 inch wall oven models only. Catriver...post back.

I have GE model#JKP45WOP2WG double oven wall unit. Lower oven isn't heating up properly. Bottom of lower oven doesn't seem as hot as the top of the oven... replaced oven sensor, not

Most double wall ovens are technically two separate oven boxes. The lower oven box has its bake, boil elements, high limit thermostat and ofcourse its own oven sensor. If the lower oven box boil is working good and less heat on bake feature may suggest that the bake element is burned out and only getting preheated with boil element. Just a suggestion here

Based off the information you have provided it sounds like a potential problem with your connector for your element within your Frigidaire wall oven. GE Profile JTP85 (installed 1998). The lower heat element in the lower oven will not heat. I can make the upper element heat up by using the BROIL function, but neither element gets warm on BAKE.

In the upper oven, the lower heating element started sparking when turned on, and now it looks like it has a 'bubbled' area (about inch long) on it and it looks bent on one area. I guess I need to...

Electric Oven doen't heat

cdkd, there should be a TC0, on the back of the oven. Thermal cut out. You want to check to see if it is open. You will have to pull the oven out enough that you can remove the back panel cover and check it. The lower and upper oven should have one. It's a very cheap part to replace. If this TCO fails, no heat. Check this first before buying a new board. Catriver..post back.
