Try running it to warm up the fluid, drain the old stuff out and replace with a quality hydrostat fluid recomended by the mfg. Also change the filter if so equiped. you should be able to get ahold of the mfg. online or start here http://www.poulan.com/poulanpro/indexAction.do?id=default

My poulan riding lawnmower dies when I release brake pedle why

Sounds like there is a short in the seat safety switch making the unit think your not on the seat. Check the connections under the seat when you flip it up there should be wires and a pressure switch.

My poulan pro lawnmower blades are not cutting when running

Are your blades installed up side down?
Is the blade drive belt installed properly or are the blades turning backwards? Is the belt too loose and slipping?
Are the blades dull and need sharpening?.

SPARK PLUG FOR POULAN LAWNMOWER #600Y22SHP AND WHAT KIND OF OIL TO BUY. wANT TO DO MAINTIANCE.

Take the old plug out and it will have numbers on the side. Simply match them up and you can cross-reference them on the package of any other plug that looks like it fits. But I'm guessing that mower has a Brigg's and Stratton engine and the plug will probably be a RJ19LM (Champion Number), which is what 99 percent of the engines I work on take (gapped at .030). Also, most mowers today run on straight 30 weight oil (not a multi-viscosity such as 10W30, Just 30 weight). Hope this helps you and good luck. P.S. Your owner's manual will tell you what you need to know and the engine sticker will tell you the oil.

Lawnmower starts and dies... where is the main jet for the carb?

try cleaning the air filter, then a touch of starting fluid right into the carburator by taking the air filter off. If it then starts but wont run or stay running, the reservoir below the carb should be removed to clean at and the pinhole in the intake tube above the bowl nut. This is the most common problem with lawnmower start problems, the pinhole can be unplugged with one wire from a wire brush. Be careful with the gas, at least pinch off the gas hose with a vise grips while removing the carb bowl.. Never use a droplight around gasoline. most lawnmowers have no mixture adjustments, so it is a matter of cleaning the carb, tank, gas lines. Some oils in gas mix systems settle and clog after less than one season.

Put Lawnmower on its side and changed blade. Put

Most likely you have flooded the cylinder with oil. You can try this and see if it helps you out.

Remove the spark plug, clean and dry it with carb cleaner, let dry, spray carb cleaner in the spark plug hole and thoroughly flush it out. Let is sit this way for about 20 minutes. Reinstall your spark plug and see if it will start up for you. If it does you are done if not go to an auto parts store and buy some starter fluid. Spray the fluid with just short burst into the air cleaner. Try to start it. Repeat and it should stay running in a couple of tries.
