Question about Vtech i5857 Cordless Phone
I bought this phone in US and I took it at home in Europe. Here the phone doesn?t want to connect properly to the phone line. It receives sounds perfectly including the Caller ID but doesn?t transmit anything, not even the dial beeps needed to dial the number. Any solution please?
SOURCE: Caller ID does not work
I FIXED IT!!! YIPEEE!!
What I did was UNPLUG the base's power unit from the wall... waiting about one minute, and plugged it back in. That caused it to "reboot" the entire system, and the CID now shows itself.

SOURCE: caller id function does not work
I had the same problem
I learnt that in India DTMF is used while in US it is FSK for Caller ID`s.
Get a EX220 converter and put it in between your Tel and system

Here is something to try:
Disconnect or unplug the power supply (the small black box that is plugged into the wall outlet) wait for 30 seconds and then plug it in again. Sometimes the power supply needs to reset itself. It worked for me.

disassemble the handset (if you can figure out how to get it open). Flip the LCD screen over so that you can get to the end of the wire ribbon. You want the end that is connected to the phone, not the LCD screen. Carefully use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat the cable being careful not to melt it. Your goal is to melt the glue that connects the tiny wires to the electrodes. When glue is melted use a pencil eraser to press the wires so that they make contact again. Let it cool and try it out. It should work well after that. Put your phone back together.
