HP2600n color printing not registering

When I print gray mode all is fine. When I print color the colors are not registering. In other words Magenta Cyan and Yellow are not printing close enough to create a new color by combining properly.

Similar situation (on 2605dn) however the cyan appears to work fine but yellow and magenta do not print properly. I can't get green, orange, yellow, red to print.

I have tried the calibration multiple times.

I have turned off, unplugged the power supply, unplugged the connection to the computer.

I have reset the printer to default settings using the printer menu.

I have reset the printer preferences (software end) to default settings.

I replaced the cartridges with aftermarket cartridges first and the problem started but I can't say that the aftermarket cartridges caused the problem because I then replaced the cartridges with HP Brand cartridges and the same problem continues.

Looks like theres a problem with the color ragistration.
I would calibrate the printer. Heres how;

  1. Go to "System Setup" on the display. Press Select.
  2. Go to "Print Quality". Press Select.
  3. Go to "Calibrate Color". Press Select.
  4. Go to "Calibrate Now''. Press Select.
  5. Press Select again to confirm Calibrate Now.
This will calibrate the printer and should eliminate the color registration problem you are having.

Some people have had luck getting the unit to calibrate by removing toner cartridges, and blowing out the toner trays and wherever else you can reach with compressed air. I personally suspect it is removal and reinsertion of the cartridges, but the blowing out will cover all the bases.

I have a Konica C250 machine which cannot print red color at all. I had changed the toner and image unit but still cannot print red color. How can I solve this problem?

Recommended that you have a tech come out and look at it might have a bad LED assy. for the Magenta Image unit. All other color print OK? Can you print gradation test pattern for each color in service mode? Meter count, details, stop 00 stop 01 Test Output Gradation pattern select magenta. If you open the side cover after printing a document with the color magenta try to catch a print of paper do you see the color magenta on the transfer belt if yes the drum is ok could be the transfer belt magenta 1st transfer roller on the belt replace the belt assy.

HP All-In-One 4500 prints YELLOW when Black is SELECTED Could this be a PRINT HEAD PROBLEM?

Hi,
The inkjet printers print colors as they combine the major 4 colors contained in the cartridges CMYK (or said in words cyan, magenta, yellow and black) in some proportion.
If you print black the printer gets ink from the black cartridge only. If the black cartridge is empty some devices start to print black as a combination of the colors in the color cartridge - for example gets some of the cyan, gets some of the magenta, gets some of the yellow.
In your case maybe some of the other colors are empty too (or the nozzles are clogged) and the printer cannot prepare the correct mixture of colors to start printing black.
I suggest you to change both black and color cartridges.
Hope this helps.

Colors are not printing the acutal color

It all depends on the meaning of 'not properly'.

Try creating a document with four different squares, or words, of these colours: yellow, magenta, cyan and black. If all of them print (albeit not with the correct shades) it is probably an ICM driver error. But my guess is that only one of those four colors will print badly, due to a defective color cartridge.
The OKI 5150 makes all perceivable colours using cyan, magenta, yellow and black toners, so if one of these malfunctions, the resulting colors will lack the required shade of, say, yellow, and will appear to be "wrong". The yellow colour itself, of course, would simply disappear (the "yellow" you use might actually be 95% yellow and 5% cyan; then the "yellow" square will be printed as a very light shade of cyan, while the other colors - say, 95% magenta and 5% yellow - will turn out almost exact).

Try with the color test and replace any failing cartridge; if all four (almost) pure colours do print incorrectly, it's unlikely to be a cartridge problem, and we'll have to dig deeper.

Black blocked by magenta

One ovbious option would be to have a friend print it out.
I assume that is not an option.

Some printers just won't let you print if a single color is out. Yes, stupid. Try printing a blank page. If it fails, there is no other option but to replace the cartridge or print elsewhere.
If the blank page test works, this next option/test is worth a try...
Depending on the app you are using, you can specify the color breakdown of the colors you are using. In your case, it is possible that the text is set to a rich black (4-color) rather than just black.
If that is the case, to test this most quickly, make a new file, and create a new black (black2), set to 100 black, 0% other colors.
Type a wor and set it to print in that color and try to print it.
If that works, apply the same technique to your real document.
Hope it works. I've been stuck in the same situation, and some printers will just not let you print if a single color is out.
Good luck.
