Question about Philips 27PT5445 27" TV
My TV is only 8 months old and it keeps shuting off because it loses it's memory and keeps thinking the channels are blocked. It therefore shuts off immediately when it is turned on. I can only use Philips Service Centers and they want me to pay $60.00 to pick it up! Philips should pay for it all (I don't drive). Not even a year old and want me to pay more! INTERESTING Fact: if you look at sites like Cox Crow, you will be amazed how many complaints about Philips there really are. Cox Crow site alone has 219 complaints dating back to 2004. They (Philips)should not be allowed to get away with this. these problems are not only this model TV so BEWARE. I want to expose them for what they really are. I could use some support if it is out there. Maybe we akk coukld get refunds. email:email@example.com

Press VOL+ (on the remote) and the CH+ button on the front of the TV at the same time. 6. Press the Number buttons to enter a four-digit code. The code will appear on the screen as you enter it. The code "0000" is the default of the TV. If you have not set up a code previously, then "0000" is the code. You cannot use "0000" after you set your own code (unless you reset the code to "0000"). 7. Press MENU to save the code.

Solution #6 is the right solution. I did this repair. I'll share some stuff he left out. If you can still get the TV to work, and it's not at complete failure, the capacitor at 2455 is the only thing that needs to be replaced.
I got the capacitor at Radio Shack, and they still sell them. You want a radial lead 47microfard or 47uf 35v polarized capacitor. The one I bought was mostly blue with a thin black strip in line with one of the leads. I'm not electrical in anyway so I spend a lot of time trying to figure out what this meant.
The capacitor in the TV was mostly black with a grey strip. I oriented my mostly blue one so that it's black stip was in line with the existing one's grey strip during replacement.
It was $1.49 in parts and less than a penny in solder. The hardest part was removing all the screws. You need an allen wrench to do do it.
