Nail in washer

I had  a small aluminum nail in my pants pocket. It looks like it slipped into one of the drum holes and was causing a noise when the spin cycle was on. It looks like the head of the nail was too big to pass through the drum, so it was sticking out and hitting something during the spin cycle.  It looks like the nail eventually worked though the drum housing (one of the holes is larger than the rest) so the nail must be in the tub basin somewhere.
What do I do now?

Hi I had the same problem, but not a nail a bra under wire, they have a wire that is sown in under the cup these often work loose and slip through the holes in the drum,in my case it was catching on the heating element if not removed it would catch the element and even damage it or at best my a bad noise. To get at it i just undid the heater element pulled it out from the drum and this then gave me good access to the drum housing so i was able to get at the wire. You must make sure you unplug the washer from the electrics DO NOT work on any appliance when it is connected to the mains. All washers have an heater at the bottom of the drum.If you are handy it will not take you more than an hour to do this job.Good luck.

Well so long as its no longer making noise chances are its passed into the drain pump cleanput area. remove thelower acess panel(3 screws across the bottom of machine) behind the panel yoll find a large turn screw looking part. unscrew it to reveal a lint/ button trap. chances are what has gotten in has been caught here. ckean out and reinstall. BE AWARE WATER WILL BE BEHIND THE FILTER PLUG, USE A BAG OR TOWELL TO CATCH WATER. AND UNPLUG UNIT LIVE WIRES DOWN THERE!!!!

I have an LG troll washer that is making a loot of noise from the drum. And is bouncing around. It sounds like something is rattling around exterior of drum.

Sounds like a coin, nail screw or bra wire stuck in the drum / tub cavity. It will be difficult to remove if so - try removing the water heater and looking with a torch into the hole - if something is stuck on the front lip edge of the wash drum, you may need to strip the wash tub to pieces or replace - (good luck with that!) and it will have caused damage of some sort. ALWAYS check trouser pockets before washing!!
Avoid lying the machine on its side as water from the soap drawer or sump will probably run onto the expensive electronics cards.

Drum clicking

Something small like nail , Bobby pin , more than likely it will be too big to fall all the way through the drum but you need to find it before it causes bigger problems.

Hello, my washer is approx. 5 years old, it has always been very noisie and a repair man said this was normal. My husband complains every time I use it. Now this morning I'm hearing what sounds like screws...

You may have something like screws or nail or something that was in some ones pocket or just fell into the tub . You may have to take the agitator out to get it out unless you can get something under it to get it out. This is pretty common I've seen nails get in a hole & wear a hole in the drum , then you have a leaking drum. Not sure but sounds like this may be your problem. Hope this helps good luck

Tub thumps after nail wedges through small hole bottom and stops tub

You could have an unbalanced tub or the piece is rotating around in the outer tub and making the noise. Contact a professional to have the machine taken apart if the noise continues.

My washer damages clothes

You should inspect the inside of the drum for damage or something stuck in the drum perforations. I have had exactly this problem and it was caused by the wire from one of my wife's bras coming out in the wash and getting stuck in the drum perforations.

My washing machine drum won't turn, even manually. I can't find a way in to perform maintanence on the drum itself as its all one piece of metal. Its a Zanussi Progress 1400. I have placed it on its side...

This is a pretty serious fault - and may be fatal for the machine. Sounds like you have something jammed in the tub / drum cavity, which has seized the drum. Could be a coin - a screw, a nail... anything that could fit into a pocket basically. If your machine has a plastic tub - it may have made a hole in the tub, and won't be worth fixing due to cost of spares. It may have even bent the water heater in the process. A less serious possibility is a sock, towel or pants may be jammed in the cavity from overloading, BUT you will find it almost impossible to remove. I sometimes succeeded by removing the water hear from the rear, but if you have a sealed tub assembly, you have problems. Maybe removing the door seal might give you access - but good luck putting the seal back on!!! I have seen grown men reduced to tears trying this lol Lesson is ALWAYS CHECK YOUR POCKETS before washing pants, etc.
Sometimes you can removed jammed clothing with a bent piece of wire from the front gap between the tub and drum.

Do you have kids? My sons were bad for putting things in their pockets. Rocks, sticks, nails. Anything they were fiddling with outside. Many a times a small pebble or small nail would slip through the holes and make 'music'.
Now they are teenagers and when I do laundry I tell them if I find money in the machines it is mine. Guess what? They check their pockets good! XD

LG WD-14750SD noise coming from water pump near pump filter spay nozzle keeps on getting blocked with fine material having to pick out material with scriber and tweezers every 2 days

It sounds as if you have a screw loose !
No, really - I believe there is a screw, nail or other large object in the drum or near the filter that needs to be found and removed.
The small particles you describe are probably pieces of plastic from the drum or pump body that have been chipped off. If left untreated, can lead to a big hole and expensive replacement.

Please empty and strip the pump pipework to check for nails etc, and check in base of drum.

I have been out to several with a hole clean through the drum caused by nails.

Smoking washer

once you get the front panel off check the drain pump while your in there right now get a flashlight and look very closely at the holes in the tub for something like a nail or screwhead or something small enough to have slipped down in one of the holes of the inner tub and be jamming it now when you check the drin pump be warned there will be water still in the pump and tub so put down a bunch of towels
