Question about JVC GR-D271U Camcorder
I have a JVC model no. GR-271U. I have the USB cord that came with camera and I cant find the manual now. How do I transfer from the tape to my computer files? Any help would be appreciated. When I plug the USB into my computer it doesnt even register on my start bar and I Can;t pull it up through the "My computer" option either.
Had same problem...although manual states you can transfer via USB, it doesn't work and won't no matter how many drivers you find. What does work is a Firewire cables. You have three options but I only have tried and proven one. Options:
1. 4-Pin to 4-Pin Firewire transfer cable. The camera has a Firewire port directly below the AC Power adaptor port. This worked fine pulling the video to my PC using Windows Media Transfer. No drivers necessary...at least for Vista. As soon as I plugged in the camera, a window opened asking what actions I wanted to take. Only my HP Laptop equipped with 4-Pin Firewire.
2. 4-Pin (Camera) to 6-Pin Firewire (PC). My Laptop or Desktop not equipped.
3. 4-Pin Firewire (Camera) to USB (PC). Might work but since I couldn't pull data through Camera USB, didn't want to invest in this cable configuration.
Solution in future is buy a bunch of SD Media cards (Not SD-HC) and stop using tape. Transfer direct to PC from SD Card.
