If the lights are on and it will not run, then you need to check for corrosion around the connection on the compressor and start switch.

What you`ll need to do is make sure everything has power going to it. There may be other problems such as the mice. If you cannot find anything else wrong you may want to consider using the FixYa repair service finder.

My thermostat is at 81 degrees even though it says it is set to 72. it says "following schedule" under 72

Serena, more than likely the problem is with the system and not with the thermostat. Either the a/c compressor is not running or there is a loss of refrigerant issue or a safety device in the cooling circuit has the unit shut off.

Verify that the system components are running or not running...indoor blower, outdoor fan and a louder hum inside the outdoor unit that would be the compressor. If any of the components are not running it is time to call for service.

I have a ge GSH25JFXB WW side by side frig that was hit by a power surge. now, it does not cool like it use to. both the freezer and frig and warmer than before even when you turn it on full blast. they...

Start by checking the compressor. If it is running, you should tell by it being warm and a slight vibration/hum....it will start and should run until thermostat stops it. Since it's not cooling, it should be running all the time. There are 2 copper or stainless tubes entering the compressor. One should be hot;the other cold. If both are same temp,or the compressor not running,or is hot to the touch, your compressor is done for(some have a removable connector with contacts that are replaceable) Compressors aren't cheap.

At 100 deg.it does not shutoff automatically

If your talking about a refrigerator, it never will as its goal is to try and cool, and its trying. It is important to know if the compressor itself is running. If there is a loose connection to the compressor via the start/over load relay (normally attaches directly onto the compressor), or if the start/over load itself is bad the compressor will not run. Best way to tell is via gauges but I doubt your frig has ports. Check to see if your compressor is really hot. Could be bad start/over load relay or bad compressor. Try unplugging your frig for say 30 min then, with your hand on top of a cool compressor, plug the frig back in and see if compressor smoothly vibrates for at least 5 min without becoming very hot or shutting off even though fan continues to run. The fact your frig is running TYPICALLY means the thermostat is calling for lower temps and the fan/compressor kick in together.

Hi...my split Ac donot cool down the room temperature....even outdoor unit is working....

Even though the outdoor fan is running it may not have the compressor on, one quick way to check is to grab the large copper line going to the outdoor unit to see if it is cooler than the small line. Another way is to open access panel and use a amp meter. If the compressor is running it may be low on freon, if not running it could be burned, loose wiring connections, bad capacitor or bad compressor.

Kenmore Refrig Model # 75922400 top Freezer. Freezer is freezing really good but frig is around 46 - 48 degrees at coldest setting. We discovered ice on vents in freezer and thawed them out with hair...

Sounds like a defrost failure.
Look on the back wall of the freezer from the inside.
If it is covered in ice your defrost system has failed.
Also check the fan motor in the freezer.
If it is not running it must be replaced.

Even though i have the frig set at 1 and the freezer at 4, things in my frig are freezing. What could be wrong?

the way that works is if you set the fridge area vent wide open and freezer at 4.
then you have called for most of all the cold air to blow from the freezer in to the cooler area.
this causes the cooler area to be to cold. go the other way with the fresh food setting and give it 48 hrs.

Fruits & Veggies are freezing in both lower frig compartments

Good day,
This problem appears in spades this time of year, every year.
The problem becomes more severe when the temperatures in the house cools down and is made even worse if the usage of the machine becomes lighter.

It occurs when the machine is off, not on.
There is an open vent, near the bottom, between the freezer compartment and the fresh food compartment. This opening or vent is necessary when the machine is running, so that the air pumped into the top of the fresh food section, can return to the freezer compartment. This is by design.
Now,
When the machine is off, the zero degree air from the freezer compartment. can drift into the fresh food compartmnet and drop the temps near the bottom to below freezing.
Off time increases substantialy at this time of year.
Some have even recommended turning the controls colder to offset the problem, but I've no proof it works well, or even a little.
SXS and top freezer models experience it more than bottom freezer models.

1997 Maxima has had 4 alternators in 4 years!

Hey! I have a 97 Maxima SE and it runs great too! I have been through 4 alternators in 12 years....3 in the first 5 and finally one for the last 7. Make sure you have a new- Nissan part specific alternator. And, make sure your battery is not weak nor small for your car size. Hope this helps!
