Question about PC Laptops

1 Answer

Laptop intermittently has no boot or if in working freezes

Laptop only starts up occasionally and when it is operational if it is moved in any way it freezes and needs a reboot (if a reboot is successful.) upon startup, the cd drive motor whirrs, and if startup is successful moves onto the hard drive. When it is not successful the cd whirrs, then there is a pause, then it whirrs again, then another pause etc. but the screen stays completely black.I reckon it is possibly an issue with the cd drive, or a BIOS issue, but would rather not pay for something that is not definately going to resolve the issue.  the laptop in question is a medion mim2310 (pink) thanks.

    Hi,

My problem is the same with the same laptop:
    ---
laptop only starts up occasionally and when it is operational if it ismoved in any way it freezes and needs a reboot (if a reboot issuccessful.) upon startup, the cd drive motor whirrs, and if startup issuccessful moves onto the hard drive. When it is not successful the cdwhirrs, then there is a pause, then it whirrs again, then another pauseetc. but the screen stays completely black.
    ---
Unfortunatelly, the only difference is that it never boots, but the rest is exactly the same.

    Can anyone offer a solution?

(pls do not suggest me to bin it or to change to different laptop or model. that's not my goal!)

    Thanks!

Intermittent black screen?

Sounds like a loose connection between the LCD and the motherboard. If that's not the case then it could be the GPU is acting up.

I have an acer 5515 series laptop. It stop working all the sudden. I can't get online . The scan bar keeps going.

You might have to start from checking your bios battery, the memory and if this boots but does not move further the hard disk.
However if the PC boots up occasionally then you must try to restore the PC to a earlier set date or if not the operating software must be reinstalled.

Make sure that you are not placing the hand on the touchpad while typing.... This might be due to the drivers issue with the touchpad.. Try to unistall the drivers of touchpad from the device manager.. Then install a fresh copy from the dell website(www.support.acer.com).. If the issue is yet to be fixed please contact Acer to replace the touchpad....

Laptop boots up intermittently or screen freezes

basing on the information you have given here are the possible solutions:
remove any external device connected to your system (printer, external hard drive and others) if removing this does not work and still gets a blank screen with blinking cursor try to go to safe mode with networking. if successful try to download the driver for your video adapter.

when you try to start the computer , do get anything on the screen like a logo? when does the blank screen occurs, is it during the turning ON of the computer or during the windows xp logo appears on the screen?

a blank screen could be caused by the following: defective video adapter, corrupted video driver, defective memory, unknown device causing the issue like the hard drive, optical drive or other peripheral installed inside the computer.

try also using an external monitor
