Hi. my sierra optical drive will not mount to my e-64 emu sampler

I bought the drive to connect via scsi interface with my sampler but it will not register as connected. i have got the right optical disc [ 1.3 gb verbatim 5.25"] as recommended.i have got the correct drive setting [any drive number except 6],which is the sampler default setting.the scsi lead connections are sound.in my sampler manual it specifies using an m.o. drive to store data via scsi, so i have the correct hardware and connections and i am following all the manual procedures for installation. the only thing i havent got is the drive manual to refer to. maybe i have overlooked something which my sampler manual cannot tell me.i am aware also that something could be faulty, this was all bought as used. hope you can help ****.d thanks

    have
tested FWB's 'Hard Disk Toolkit' and it works fine with our optical
drives. The goal when using a Mac is trying to use as few inits as
possible. FWB's driver(s) can control many different devices such as
hard drives, Syquest-type drives, a variety of optical drives, etc.
Just make sure to remove the Pinnacle MO INIT from the Extensions
Folder prior to using another driver. Anubis driver from CharisMac is
    another good choice.

the Sierra can read and write 650MB
optical media. However, be aware that if the 650MB cartridge was
formatted and/or written to via another SCSI controller, it may not be
usable with your Sierra as different SCSI controllers handle media
differently. The only way to know for sure is to contact Pinnacle Micro
    Technical Support for assistance.

How do I connect a UP-D50 printer with a Sony Vaio?

Hi there
I have found some details of the printer here
http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/STARINMANUALS/Sony%20Security/UP-D50%20-%20Quick%20Spec.pdf
where it clearly states that the printer is SCSI based. This is not a usual printer interface, and it is highly unlikely that your Vaio will have a SCSI interface at all. However it does say "USB compatible with optional SCSI to USB converter cable" with a footnote "Window 2000/XP only" and your Vaio will almost certainly have a USB interface. Unfortunately the drivers on the Sony website here:
Sony Global DP UP D50
only go up to Windows 2000/XP with no drivers listed for later versions of Windows, so you may have problems getting a driver to work.
But I think your major problem will be getting the cable to link the two. Sony's web site doesn't come up with anything and more general searches don't come up with a lot. My best suggestion is to determine the type of SCSI plug/socket on the printer and then go for an external SCSI adaptor (USB) with the appropriate plug/socket and then use an appropriate SCSI to SCSI cable to link the two. Without knowing more about your Sony's SCSI interface type I'm afraid I can't help more.
Hope this has been a little helpful
Cheers

Image on screen is distorted but prints fine

Hi,Check the SCSI/USB interface cable is connected properly. If any temporary alarm or error is indicated, then follow these steps:1.Are the cables between Control PCA and optical unit damaged or connected properly?2. If the cable is OK, then either the Optical Unit or the Control PCA is faulty, replacing the faulty parts would resolve the issue.

EMU 1212m clicks in audio

Note that there are new drivers that can be found on http://www.emu.com and that some E-MU products need to be grounded, like my E-MU 1616m, check also the ASIO drivers settings,
setting in them the milliseconds to low wil also
cause audio stutter.

Succes.

PC won't boot if SATA drive connected, drive works fine if plugged afterward

Try Hirens Boot CD. It has a lot of programs on it to detect format etc.
I think your hard drive has a missing or corrupt MBR and it needs to be replaced.
When I have had a hard dive not recognized I hve used Super Fdisk to format and reset hard drive.
On the boot disk
