Mic is not working on acer aspire 7736z-4905

have you tried plugging in an external mic?
If it works with an external mic, chances r that the issue is not hardware, but configuration within your operating system

Acer aspire 5920 running vista has built in mic not working

Hey,

It is all because the Microphone is not set as a default device to start recording.

Its like your computer has no device for recording even if the computer has connected with Mic.

Just change the settings and enjoy..!!!

Check the below link:

How To Install and Setup a Microphone:
http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-To-Install-and-Setup-a-Microphone

Set up microphone:

Hope it helps.

We have aspire 5920 laptop, if we are talking to others through net like skype viop the others cannot hear our voice. we are using head phone.

According to the specs for your model laptop, it appears that it does not have a built-in mic. Attach a mic to the mic port on the laptop, it will be next to the headphone port and configure Skype for your microphone settings.

Acer aspire 5920 mic issues

I was able to solve this by downloading the REALTEK R2.17 driver directly from the the REALTEK download page and installing it:

No it recognizes the mic when inserted on the frontal jack and let it work.

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#1

The file is called: WDM_R217.exe

Sound problem - Acer Aspire 5920

I assume you are using Windows Vista as ships with Aspire 5920's. Try the following to make sure that Windows is using the correct output options:
  1. Click on the Start Menu and go to Control Panel
  2. From Control Panel click on Hardware and Sound
  3. Click on the heading Sound and the sound configuration box will appear.
  4. The first tab is called Playback and allows you to select a playback device.  You should find your external speakers and internal speakers listed.
  5. Click the external speakers and then click on the "set default" button to make sure that the sound is played back through those instead of your internals.
