Question about HP PSC 2175 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Scanner not working but printer/copier does.

Software has been installed and it is confirmed when I try to reinstall it.

With your all-in-one properly connected and powered up, open your HP Essentials program and hit "get images" and choose scanner, then click OK on the next window which should show your printer as the only choice. Otherwise, scroll to choose the appropriate one, then click ok and it should begin. Alternately, open Hp Solution Center and hit the Scan Picture or Scan Document button, but I believe the initial use needs to come from the HP Essentials program.

If this still does not work, remove programs through control panel, and also delete from program file. Restart and reinstall fresh programs.

Beyond this, you either have a faulty usb connection or you machine needs service.

Please remove the scanner and UNINSTALL the driver from the PC. Now reinstall the driers and when prompted connect the scanner to be detected and installed. If there is no detection there is fault in the driver or in the scanner motherboard. If installed try a calibration test to set the scanner for optimum performance.
If it does not work have it connected to another PC to confirm, if so the motherboard is a suspect and must be estimated.

Doesn't scan images


In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer ONLY WHEN PROMPTED, to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed.
Now use the printer to do a test print and then calibrate using the scanner. if this wont work there are issues on the motherboard and needs to be confirmed.

I WANT TO USE THE SCANNER BUT, I DON'T NOW HOW, It go to the printer all the time, could you please help me ? I have the EPSOM STYLUS BX300F PROFESSIONAL, PRINTER,SCANNER,FAX,PHOTOCOPIER.


Basically, you can use the scanner in two ways. Please open the scanner cover and place the document or image you want to scan face down.

1. Press the SCAN button (color button = color scanning, black button = monochrome scanning). then your scanner will scan the document or image in the scanner tray.

2. Go to the scanner program installed in your computer when you installed the printer. Open it and then click the command button SCAN.

Note: Make sure that you installed the Scanner software when you installed the printer. Without the software, your scanner will not work. Please reinstall the printer including the scanner software.

After installing software scanner is nor recognised and doesnot recognise Twain


Check device manager to confirm that the scanner is listed there (If listed, this shows that the scanner is seen by the computer, if no yellow caution symbol against it, it shows that it is properly installed. If you see a yellow caution symbol against it, it means it is not installed). If not listed you should try another USB cable to see if that will resolve the matter. If the later is the case reinstall the scanner. If still not resolved you should confirm if the scanner software you are installing is actually correct for your operating system. If not go online to Canon site to download and install the right one.

Scanner won't stay installed


When you install the printer software is it installed properly? if the printer is installed properly then you will do need to do the same step. First, uninstall the printer software by going to control panel > add/remove programs and then uninstall all the printer software. then go to control panel > printer and faxes if printer is present in the printer and faxes delete the printer. Restart the computer. Before reinstalling the printer software turn off your firewall, anti-virus, spyware if you have any. Then reinstall the printer. Try to scan again. if it works then try to restart your computer and scan again. it should work

Prints, but scanner does not work, message 'USB or wireless not connected'


You may have to remove the printer software and reinstall it. Be sure to turn off firwall when installing software. Also, configure firewall to allow printer and scanner as exceptions, or turn off firewall when trying to scan

After running full system recovery I tried to reinstall my printer and scanner. I reinstalled my printer (HP Deskjet 870ces). Then tried to reinstall HP Scanjet 5100c on a machine running Windows XP Pro....


Some time printers and scanners conflict. Try this, uninstall both printer and the scanner, then install the scanner first and try it to see if it works. Then install your printer. If it doesn't work let me know I'll walk you through. Good luck :)

I just got a new Dell Windows Vista Laptop. I currently have a Brother 7420 printer, fax, scanner, copier combo. I can't get the scanner to work. Please HELP... Thanks, Pam


I presume the print and fax parts work. Can you make a copy? Have you checked the driver software? The CD that came with the equipment usually installs the scanner software as well. try reinstalling the software and see if it works.
