Question about Bosch 24 in. SHY56A05 Stainless Steel Built-In Dishwasher

Water Leak at bottom of unit

My Bosch SHY56A05 has a leak that fills most of the compartments in the plastic containment pan at the bottom while running. I have removed the door front and toe kick plate and looked at what I can get to while the unit is running, but cannot see where the leak is coming from. I even had the unit out and on blocks while running, but could not see much more. I assume the leak is occurring somewhere underneath the unit. Any specific areas that are prone to leaking that I should concentrate on?

Thanks,

Hi there,

leaks a quite frustrating once they happen but there aren't that many places that you can have a leak. i would recommend looking at the drain pump and ensuring all seals are ok. after that focus on the door itself. are the seals okay, the door liner, etc?

Bosch dishwasher will not take in water after cut off and restore of external warm water supply. Pump runs, aqua stop slightly warm and red tap /faucet signal comes on. Tried tilting.

your dishwasher is leaking water. the bottom or base of the unit is like a big catch pan, the pan has a water sensor witch is two metal contacts positioned just over the bottom of the pan. As water from a leak begins to fill the pan and makes contact with the two metal tabs it opens the circuit to a cut off switch at the water inlet valve. Slide the unit out from the cabinet just far enough to access the sides, about 20 inches, As water is removed from the panand no longer making contact wit the water sensor power will be restored to the inlet valve, Now you begin looking for the source of the leak, You may need to start a wash cycle, this is why the unit needs to remain connected. The source of the leake will dictate what needs to be disconnected and position of the unit. Something like the water level sensor can be replaced without fully uninstalling the unit.

Bosch shy66c06 doesn't turn off when door opened

This is a partial solution. After reading lots of other similar descriptions (none of which were automatically identified by FixYa, btw), we realized it was probably water in the 'catch basin' or whatever that pan (white plastic) below the sump pump is. Sure enough, there was about 1/2" of water in the pan. We hoped that by overriding the float switch and watching it run through a cycle, we would be able to see where the leak came from. Unfortunately, running a rinse & hold (10 min) didn't do it, so we are about to run it on a quick wash (56 min). To do this, we have left everything connected (power & water), and removed the toe kick cover, to give us access to the works below the main compartment. A long chopstick works well to get at the red float switch actuator; we used two of them to dip a washcloth in the water to soak, and then remove the washcloth and wring it over a bowl. Slow, and tedious. But the alternative was to do the 3 hr teardown just to get the pan dried before we could run it through a complete cycle. We're still hoping this will let us see the leak.

PUMP WILL NOT STOP WHEN YOU PUT POWER ON . PUMP STARTS AS SOON AS YOU PUT THE POWER ON TO PICK A WASH PROGRAM EVEN BEFORE THE DOOR HAS BEEN CLOSED.

I have seen this on my unit. There was water in the drip pan under the dishwasher. Water in the drip pan comes from a leak. In my case, the water valve was getting so old that it was letting too much water into the unit when it was trying to fill. This cause the filling station to over flow into the drip pan.
A quick fix - I removed the water from the drip pan under the unit and I was able to turn down on the supply valve in the basement to limit how much water could come in. This allowed the unit to run without overflowing. I will replace the water valve soon.

Other possibilities, the float device used to detect too much water in the drip pan or too much water in the unit is stuck in the too full position. Or the pump out pump is stuck and not moving water.

Bosch dishwasher = machine on but no water, so the lower basin has water in it and because of it the FLOOD CONTROL SWITCH IS ON, so how do I drain the rest of the water so the FLOOD CONTROL SWITCH goes...

If you can see the water use a shop vac if not you will have to pull the unit out and remove the left side panel after removeing the water you will need to find the leak that caused the bottom to fill with water

Dishwasher will not take in water

On bosch dishwasher if the base senses a water leak the unit will not fill & the drain pump will come on. I recommend checking for water in the base & locating the source of the leak if you see water in the base. Other possibilities; fill switch, water level switch or water valve. There is no reset for this problem.

No fill - drain pump running - I assume stuck float switch

remove the bottom plate of the dishwasher and the bottom pan is revealed. reason the drain pump is running will be that this pan has water in it ie you have a leak. mop out the water and dishwasher will work - switch off mains when you do this

Dishwasher will not fill with water

without a brand or model number its hard to be sure, but some types have a float cut out switch inside the washer. Its on the bottom inside and kind of resembles a plastic mushroom. The top should lift up and down easily. detergent will clog it up and keep it from moving. Just clean all the soap caked on it and move it up and down to see it it pushes a little switch underneath.
