Re: hard drive

The firm ware in the machine (depending how old it is)might not recognise that size drv or it needs formating, either way you can fix this with Disk Wizard.

Bios no longer detects the harddrive

Is it set to run disc or hard drive 1st?
if reinstalling windows it needs to boot up from cd drive 1st and this will automatic copy to new garden drive, after that change bios to boot up from hard drive.

Lap top can't find hard drive

Here are some steps that you can try.

- Check if the harddrive is recognized in the BIOS (Basic Input Output System). Normally you will see values beside "Drive 0" at the first page if the harddrive is detected. If it says none or blank, then it is not detected. Reload BIOS default settings and try to boot up the unit to see if it will pick up the harddrive.
- If the harddrive is not detected in the BIOS, you need to unscrew the harddrive compartment at the bottom of the laptop.
- Reinsert the harddrive and check harddrive cable. Also try to use a good known harddrive if yours is defective.

Hope this helps.

Have you checked the maximum capacity and harddrive specification that your laptop could handle? You might be using a harddrive specs that exceeded the maximum. However, try to check if it is properly seated first before trying to use lower specs of harddrive.

Hope this helps.

The previous hard driver was bad. I replaced it with a new hard drive. I used the Toshiba default factory setting to reinstall the softeware and now my laptop will not boot up.

Toshiba default factory setting can only restor your software if you have backup copy on New Harddrive.

As your old Harddrive crashed, you have to reinstall Operating system and requie software on new Harddrive.

Toshiba Qosmio laptop with Phoenix securecore util, uses SATA drive. Had to replace the Hard drive, HDD1 password issue After installing the new HD and at boot up, blue screen occurs I get errors F78da640,...

You've probably got to have your computer configured to boot from a rescue CD before it can recognize and install the new harddrive. Also make sure that there is an operating system installed on the hard drive . If not it will not do anything until you install one. This will be automatic if you install a new XP or Vista DVD into the computer's DVD drive the reboot.

Toshiba satellite A105 operating system not found, wife dropped laptop

usually a harddrive is designed to withold a drop (to some extent), so one of 2 things happen. either the head of the hard drive touched the drive (internally), and killed the hard drive, or the hard drive simply got loose where it connect. i would unscrew where the harddrive goes (easy don't panic about it, 1 or 2 scres tops) and take the hard drive out then put it back in. if the harddrive is ok, u should be back in business.

Replaced harddrive and dvdroom wont recognize in bios

Goto bios menu. And change the setting on hard drive and cdrom. It could be it still set in the old configuration. Try to set it in auto detect. Then save the setting. Then goto bios once again to check if the settings doesn't change. Restart again and wait if something you didn't expect still happens.

Leave a comment if this solve cd rom detection.
