Are the drives on a Raid controller, or an unsupported disk controller?

For the HP Proliants, you can use the supplied cd's that came with the server. The SmartStart CD guides you through the install process and will prepare storage, driver installation, preinstallation etc for you.

That way, you don't have to worry about creating disk sets etc for the storage card, network, ...

How can I change the possibly faulty disk in a HP X1600 network storage server? The disk LED is green but it initiates a continous rebuilding.

This system is hot swop, which means you can take out the 'faulty' drive, and put in a new one. The system will then copy all the data over automatically.

Just double check your configuration (operations manual) to be sure the drives are properly set as hot swop with auto switching data transfer etc. Don't take my word for it because I haven't physically seen your setup so I cannot be 100% sure it is configured correctly.

BTW, Serious Thumbs Up on making a great choice on your NAS system, HP X1600 is my all time favourite so far and my personal reccomendation to all my customers at the moment!

Hi, few days ago I bought a Netgear NAS 2110 and connected it to my Netgear WNDR3700 router. I installed RAIDar utility and followed the instructions. Everything seemed to work alright. From my laptop I...

If it's new it's probably doing some housekeeping. The drives need to be formatted and then the RAID arrays need to be sorted.

On installing my server, it took days to complete, however, that was with existing data on the drive.

It might not be letting you switch off because it's busy and doing so would mess up what it's trying to perform.

If you don't want to wait to find out if all is OK, go into the configuratio utility and set just one drive up. This will show if it's working as a unit. If all is fine, install the remaining drives, maybe one at a time.

Reboot the network drive and the router, this usually works when mine doesn't show. You may need to disconnect any mapped drives, as it may show with a new ip address. Computer may also need to be rebooted.

Yellow machine server.

Is it just the fault led, let the machine run for a while and see if it starts rebuilding the drives, if it is NEW and you have just installed the drives and never installed the software then you will get a fault I have the q400t which is the platnum version tho they still call it the p400t if you have just received the server then what u must do is power off the server plug in the netcable into one of the 8 lan ports run the install till it tell's you to turn it on then hit next then follow the instructions to setup the server

Windows 2003 server can't see drive on a MSA 1000

Can you go to the server and right click on my computer, then select disk management, then see if the physical drive shows up there. This may be as simple as a drive already having a drive letter assigned to it.

External drive just stopped being recognised by Windows

OK first, check ALL connections Re-install any drivers etc, then try the device on another 'puter if the problem "Follows" ya.. then I think ya drive is done and dusted :(

Generally ya can simply replace the "Guts" of ya external with another drive of similar type then anything generally will work if it physically fits.

Qwanum guardian 4400 server type 480 GB

i had the same problem with a NAS device. I opened it up and removed the battery and all power sources. I then waited a few minutes and put everything back. The system reset to factory defaults. It now works for me.

I later found out the unit has three ethernet ports. and if the settings are incorrect then the "Gateway" is not found. You may want to connect it directly to a router and see if it gets an ip.

I've tried hyperterminal and it didnt work. There are too many parameters that can interefere.
