Depends on the filter you're talking about:
The first filter is in the bag area- unhook and lift off the bin door, then bend down and flick your finger onto the left hand spring that locks the long cylindrical felt filter in place and lift upwards - this will loosen and unlock the filter from the base - put your hand at the back or front of the filter at the front near the base and pull towards you - the filter should then slide off easily.
Or it could be the motor filter you are referring to; push the pedal all the way down on the pedal release to put the X1/X1.1/X4/X5 into the lay-flat cleaning position, and push back the grille on top of the hood - you'll see a push finger mechanism there of which the grille will then be unlocked and can be picked up.

Sebo squealing

Just spend all afternoon working this one out. Take the upright section away from the bottom by pressing the release button at the bottom of the upright section. You will see two pipes. One pipe has a grill on the top. That is the problem. Mine was slightly loose which may have caused the whistling or it may not have been making a good seal with the upright section. Anyway, I took it off altogether and the noise has gone

Sebo X4 is squealing when pulled back. Takes a while after it's been running for this to happen. We changed the roller brush (needed it anyway) but didn't take care of the noise. Could the wheels be...

Yep - we think Sebos are pretty good too. I work at a Sebo sales and repair dealership! The wheels are a good bet - I can't think of anything else that might cause the noise. If in doubt, I suppose you could simply wheel one around for a while when switched off...
