There's loud clicking sound somewhere in the area of the motor after each print when the head carriage returns to the right side, and when I first turn on the printer. It sounds almost like a bouncing like something being dropped with the clicks getting more rapid over a couple of seconds until it stops. When I try to look through the top panel I can't see any moving parts that art obviously causing the sound. At first it sounded harmless, and i wasn't even sure if it didn't always make that sound. But now it's getting much louder and almost sounds like a rapid crunch. It seemed to go away for a bit after restarting the printer, but after printing a few sheets the clicking came back and getting louder. There has been no error message the whole time and everything prints fine. However, I'm a afraid that something is getting damaged and I don't want to print anything else until I can resolve this. Any hunches?

SOURCE: Epson Stylus Photo R350 giving a paper jam error message
An Epson service man (he was VERY kind to suggest this) told me to use a weak detergent solution on the rollers, NOT alcohol as that will dry out the material the rollers are made of. Although the problem has recurred a couple of times, it's worth repeating when necessary. I actually activate the 'print' command so it tries to feed in paper, while I FIRMLY hold a piece of fine cotton cloth stretched over a thin plastic ruler, which I hold down where the paper feed grabs its paper. The printer has a couple of tries to feed paper, reports an error message (because there was no paper) and I activate it again, thus exposing the WHOLE of the feed wheel to the cleansing cloth! WORTH A TRY!

This sounds like a gear problem. There is a large plastic gear that drives a couple smaller gears to feed the paper, as it prints. The printer will have to be disassembled and the gear inspected for damage- it sounds like a tooth or two are bad, which would explain the problem occuring later in the paper feed.
You can take it into a Computer repair shop to see what they think, but I would contact Epson just to see if they can offer you a better solution.
Even if you discovered a bad gear yourself, the part can be hard to order, and you often have to go through an authorized dealer, just to get a part.
Often it's better to just get a new printer due to the cost of repair.

Good luck, and hope this helps.

Got in touch with Epson tech support. They said they couldn't really help without an error code. He suggested basically messing around with cutter blade. adjusting reinserting etc. It seems to help out which makes sense since that part is spring loaded (and thus might make bouncing sounds), and I hear the clicking after each page is cut.
