Hi again,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

The RAM Map is basically like the built-in memory of your mobile phone that holds your personalized settings/configurations (profile). Like in some phones (and even computers - personal settings), these settings from time to time do get mixed up. Doing a general reset then removes these personalized settings but reverts the unit back to factory default.

As outlined in here, it is relatively easy to reset, however, an initial step is required so that you could save your settings/configurations. An excerpt that addresses your concern:

  • You cannot do a default reset in the fashion as you would an XL Series printer. If you desire to reset the Non Volatile Ram in the Documax 3300 printers, you must first gain access to Menu 10.**Before resetting it you may need to be print the profile! To Print a Profile:
  1. Take the printer off-line
  2. Open the keypad door.
  3. Press the Feature UP key until "Print Profile" is displayed
  4. Press "Enter"
  • This will print the current profile only. You must repeat the above steps for each profile, after closing the keypad door.
  • To clear the printer buffer and reset all features in RAM, turn the printer off then turn it back on.
  • To reset all profiles to factory default, perform the following:
  1. Load paper into the printer
  2. Place the printer online
  3. Press and release the Profile key
  4. Press and release the Park key
  5. Open the keypad door and use the next menu key to scroll to menu 10.
  • Reset Printer NVM should be displayed. Press Enter. You will have to set any features that you have changed from factory.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

If the RAM will not reset, the it could only indicate that there is a hardware fault or more specifically, the memory needs to be replaced. While it would be still be possible to replace them yourself, might it not be to your advantage to consult AMT Datasouth Tech Support at 800-476-2450, then
4 or 704-523-8500. The memories are available for purchase from them and you could likewise ask for a quote. Should you be considering performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), a guide has been published on the link I provided in your original post, specifically, "Documax Firmware and RAM Installation

Dell Vostro 3300 lagging with Intel HD Video card

Turn off built in video and add a better card. See the minimum graphics specs for software. The video memory is shared on those Intel cards. Meaning that 4GB RAM is not totally available. The OS is going to use 1-1.5gb for running the system, then 256 (.25 gb) for the video. Means that a max of 1.75gb is available to run the game. You should have at least 8gb min. in a modern system. Especially if Win7 to Win10.

BTW: 4gb is good for surfing, or writing documents, but when you get into gaming ware - the pc spends most of its time using the swap file, (source of lag, since HD is 1000x slower than ram). So it stops the game to write, stops the game to read back aka LAG.

Documax A3300 printer prints in one place

After years of heavy use the rubber rollers which transport the paper through the printer can get a shine to them and tend to loose their grip. This causes misfeeds and blockages.

Using a damp cloth and something like Jif (slightly abrasive kitchen/bathroom cleaner) rub the rollers whilst rotating them by hand. With a clean damp cloth remove any cleaner and you should see the rubber has lost it's sheen.

Some rollers can be hard to get at but a little patience pays off. I've reclaimed dozens of printers due to be scrapped in this way.

You can also try turning the printer upside down and softly tapping it. You could be surprised at what drops out. My best to date was pieces of an illegal plant substance and a rare Chinese coin. (Yes it was returned to the owner :-)

Goodmorning, I see that I have a common issue that others have on these online forums regarding the alert- "replace (whatever color) pc unit" Do I really have to replace all of the pc units in...

If one of the colours has reached its "end-of-life", then chances are that the other colours also are close to their "end-of-life". So, paying a technician ONCE to replace ALL the colours is cheaper than paying a technician SEVERAL times to change ONE colour at each time.

Compare with the cost of "responsibly recycling" the printer, and buying a new one.

Blank Pages

The probability is that the new print server is either configured for a longer "page" than the cross match card.

There are different ways to fix this and it really depends on the application used to print the cards.

My first suggestion would be to fix the print server - followed by setting the page size in the application and finally configuring the form length for the profile you are using in the printer - the application settings usually take precedence over the other two, but I have found when using Windows server to drive the printer that Windows dictates the form size and a custom form may need to be created.

Documax 3300 printing problem

Start by running a test print from the control panel - with paper loaded, open the panel, press the "feature up" button - the display will say "run self test" and press enter - you should get a "barberpole" test print.

If the paper feeds properly in the self test, your problem lies in the print command, you need to send the appropriate LF character to tell the printer to feed the paper to the next line. You can also enable auto LF in the profile you are using, but this would not be my first choice.
