Office 2007 Upgrade Software does not let me upgrade 2003 Office

I have Microsoft Office 2003 installed on my computer. I bought the Microsoft Office Standard 2007 Version Upgrade.

However when I run the installation disc to upgrade to the 2007 version, I get an error message toward the end of the installation:

Installation of Microsoft Office 2007

Office 2007 is an older version of the Microsoft Office suite created before Office 2010. If you have an installation DVD and product key for Office 2007, you can install it. Once Office 2007 is installed, you'll have access to an email, spreadsheet and text editing software suite.

1. Insert the installation DVD into your computer.

2. Type in the product key in the window that appears, click "Continue" then click "I accept the terms of this agreement" and click "Continue" again.

3. Click the "Install" button if you have no other versions of Office installed on y our computer, or click "Upgrade" if you have Office 2003 installed and wish to upgrade.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thank you for using fixya.

I want to upgrade my microsoft 2003 to microsoft 2007

If you purchase the Upgrade version of Office 2007, the upgraded version will install over your older version. Microsoft made it a lot easier for customers to upgrade.
Good luck!

You need to purchase a copy of Office 2007 (there are various levels you can buy depending on what programs you need)

From there, you can usually just pop in the disk and it will offer to Upgrade your Office 2003 to 2007.

How to upgrade my Microsoft Office from 2003 to 2007

Before Microsoft Office 2010 was released, you could have purchased Microsoft Office 2007 "Upgrade", at a lower price than if you purchased the "full" version of Microsoft Office 2007.

You might still be able to find a copy of that software, in some computer-stores,
or maybe online at eBay.

Otherwise, purchase the "upgrade" version of Microsoft Office 2010.

I want to upgrade Microsoft Word 2003 to Microsoft Word 2007

Now that Office 2010 is available at retail stores, it may be difficult to find the "Office 2007 Upgrade" package at any retail computer-store. If you can find it, purchase it (it will cost less than a "full" version of Office 2007), and just install it.

I am loading up a new Dell computer with Windows 7 Pro, I have the upgrade for Office 2007 ( that I purchased) but only have upgrades since office 95. How can I load Office 2007 upgrade on this new...

Is the disk-drive from the old computer attached as a "slave" disk-drive on the new computer?
If so, then the "upgrade" utility should find the "qualifying" files, and allow the "upgrade" to proceed.

Is Office 95 listed as a "qualifying" product for the Office 2007 upgrade?
If so, then insert the CD-ROM for Office 95 when running the Office 2007 installer.
Or, insert the CD-ROM for the Office 2000/XP/2003 upgrade when requested.

Go to any "big-box" computer-store, and buy a copy of "Microsoft Office 2007 Upgrade". However, now that Office 2010 has been released, you should buy "Microsoft Office 2010 Upgrade".

Can't install microsoft office small business 2007 upgrade

The upgrade version is only to upgrade a previous version of MS office. The trial version does not qualify as previous version to be upgraded. You need to purchase the full product rather than the upgrade.

If you know somebody who has MS office 2003 with a valid product key, you could install that version, and then upgrade it with the product that you purchased

Windows Vista and Office Pro 2003

hi, yes you can install office 2003 while you already have office 2007. you just need to change the installation directory when you launch the setup for office 2003. change it into something apart from what office 2007 already is installed in. so what you're trying to say is that you should be entitled to an upgrade to office 2007 if office 2003 doesn't work? i would maybe think so... but no solid answer for that one.
