You could be having a overheating problem, make sure you are not covering any vent holes, especially those on the base of the laptop, the laptop should be placed on a flat hard surface. Your CPU fan could be faulty.

The switch on my laptop VAIO is broken in the off position how do I fix it

The WLAN switch on the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) is what turns the wireless capabilities of the console on and off. Unfortunately, it can easily come loose, causing your PSP to be stuck without connectivity. And if the switch is completely broken, you will need to purchase a new one and install it. Luckily, whether it is loose or broken, fixing the PSP WLAN switch requires only a small amount of effort, allowing you to reconnect to the Internet in very little time

Sony Vaio PCG-7X2L laptop has wireless on/off switch on the right side of computer base. Switch seems to be faulty. Any way to correct/replace/eliminate switch would be appreciated. Don't know why the need...

You can replace the switch. You will most likely need to send it in to Sony, or take it to a computer repair shop in your area. Laptops can be pretty touchy on the inside since every thing is micro sized. I would rather have you let a professional repair it than have you fix it yourself. Unless your experienced in micro-electronics, then just order a new WiFi switch from Sony parts and accessories. Heres their website:

Hi, im just asking on how to do recovery for my sony vaio pcg-481p model

Put the recovery DVD in the drive, shut the computer off and turn it on again. When the VAIO logo is on the screen, quickly press [ESC] and select the DVD Drive as the booting device.

If you didn't make the recovery DVD's when prompted by the OS when you bought the computer, you'll have to order them from sony and they're expensive.

Wireless problem

Check in the network settings if the wireless network card isn't disabled.. if windows has disabled it you can flick the switch as much as you like it wont help.

If you dont know where to re enable it, let me know what version of windows you are running... and ill set out more detailed instructions

PS.... As a general rule of thumb, you could have bought something worse than a Sony Vaio, not bad choice....

Cannot connect new laptop to internet

Do you have a router set up? If not two things you can do:

1) Buy and setup wireless router wired with desktop and wireless with laptop.

2) Remove network cable from back of Desktop and plug into laptop each time you want to use Internet. Cheaper option but more hassle to switch back and forth.
