Washing Machine broke after power surge

Hotpoint Aquarius WD440 washer/dryer. Appartment suffered a minor power surge and the washing machines now causes the electrics to trip out continually.

Hotpoint will fix for £104!!! (not paying for their rubbish appliance - everything else still works) - any better advice??

thanks - are these pretty easy to fit and where would I get one?

I have no experience of this sort of thing but am very willing to try, especially if it saves money. I have washing machine full of water and no clean clothes (aside from little cash :-)

First thing to check is mains filter. have replaced lots on this model!! This is located where the cable comes into the machine.Usually obvious visually if burnt.

To remove the old one remove the two screws that hold it then push back and up. You should be able to pick one up at a second hand washer shop quite cheaply.
