Question about E-Machines eMachines W2686 PC Desktop
It seems to be running in a loop. One screen comes on then a black screen appeats with computer program script in white print then the screen with the little lights left to right as if its thinking but it never times out this is on a W3650 seriel # xgm85 600 09045. Also Ive bought to of these e-machines and both did not com with system recovery software why?
The answer to your last question is many manufactures have chosen to put a recovery partition on the HD. Many PCs offer the ability to burn a CD from the recovery partition.
The issue with it not booting up could be many things. Could be a corrupt HD, could be a bad HD.
Press F8 while booting and see if you can choose "last known good configuration" or try safe mode.
Without a recovery CD you may run out of options, but if you can obtain a copy of XP and boot with it (not to install) You can choose an option to go into "Recovery Console" There you can run a chkdsk command and that can solve corrupted HD issues. Rebooting after the chkdsk is complete will sometimes let you back into normal windows.
