Power failure...found the blown cap and now bulb turns on but no pic. This is a common problem & BenQ won't answer service call...will never buy another.

The problem is altitude. We are at 7,000 feet and operating this unit on normal settings triggers this over heating problem. We changed the settings to economic mode and have had no more problems to date. This also saves up to 20% on power and extends bulb life.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

3. Error Code Operational Check

Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down" and not have been switched Off, to perform the Error Code Operational

Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to "12" No Error.

Pressing the front panel "DEVICE" and "MENU" buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds,

activates the Error Code Mode. The LED flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no problem

has occured since the last Initalization.

Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

• The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.

• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.

• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

Example: If the Error Code is "23", the LED will flash two times, pause, and then flash three times.

Sony kdf e50a10 no picture 4 red led flashes

Made around 2005---It should have a rather large fan at the lamp---there is a thermal sensor there that looks somewhat like a temp sending unit in a auto----there is also in the wire harness a thermal fuse but that is good based on your blink code.

I would not alter the design of the fans but make sure they are not that dirty--they will slow down if dirty.

My focus would be on either the sensor for temp for the lamp being bad or the fan there being bad---both are possible.

My benq projector turns on for a few minutes (light and fan going strong), then it shuts down.

if it goes through shut down mode (lamp first and fans run a while), reset the settings to factory default. while you're in the menu, check the lamp hours (under settings). if they're close to 2000 hours, replace the lamp. if the projector shuts down immediately, fans and all, you have a power supply problem. you'll need to replace it.

Lamp will not stay on more that a minute or so. Why? All of the fans are working and none of the vents are clogged but it is like a thermal switch shuts the lamp off.

if the projector is overheating, it will shut down. blow out the projector with canned air. the dust keeps in the heat that the fans are trying to expell. if it has shut down from heat to often, you'll need to replace the thermosensor. if you are not sure it's temp related, check the lamp for bulges and black spots. replace lamp if necessary.

Turns itself off after 5 seconds of run time. will not stay on, cooling fans work, lights up screen and shows picture, then shuts off. light flash on front right corner.

Either lamp is failing (not covered under any warranty), or the ballast has failed. Or it may be a problem with the power supply, or even the fans... What is the picture next to the flashing light? If it's only the lamp light, then either lamp or ballast, if temp is flashing (the thermometer), it will be fans, temperature sensors, main board or power supply.
