You most likely have a virus or a corrupted HD. I suggest backing up all data, run a thorough anti-virus scan and reload your OS.

I have a Dell inspiron 53os the cd keeps ejecting with error 2131 when trying to burn from my playlist. Ive been using Maxell CD-R's. Can you please help with this problem...

Welcome to Fixya.

Error 2131 is an error that is encountered with iTunes trying to burn a cd or dvd.

The Fix:

Update your drivers. I suggest downloading Device Doctor, a safe freeware that scans your machine and will look for the latest driver updates of the computer's devices.

1. Click Download.
2. Click Save.
3. Go to My Documents > Downloads Folder.
4. Click Device Doctor's .exe file. Installation will start.
5. After the installation, the application will scan for driver updates. Just click download.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to come back if you have further questions.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Dell PowerEdge 2900...USB Keyboard and USB mouse stop working after opening applications. Seems like it dumps drivers for USB controllers. I've tryed a 2.0 hub..I've switch USB ports, switched to new...

Is it possible this is where the problem started? When updating the controller...

I was going to suggest opening event viewer either through Administrative Tools or bye typing eventvwr in the Run dialogue box. You will see one column on the left and one on the right. The one on the right shows errors and performed operations alike, when you click on an area in the left column.

You'll see an "Event" tab if you scroll to the right after clicking on "System" in the left. Any red Xs mean error. Double click or right click & select "Properties" to read the error. Highlight and type Ctrl+C to copy the text in the Description area and search Google for an answer, careful where you click, reading the address for the location of the site, looking primarily for the website for solutions.

Go to the keyboard & mouse manufacturer's website and download any new drivers. You might also find legitimate drivers on the Dell site for the Host controller, USB controller & mouse/keyboard. Make sure they're for your system/model/components. Reboot if asked and allow divers to install.

My vote...

You can then/also try uninstalling the Keyboard & mouse drivers and rebooting to safe mode, then uninstall the Controllers themselves. Reinstall on reboot to normal Windows and try using only certified drivers... or drivers that came with the mouse/keyboard or that you downloaded as instructed earlier.

Uninstalling and then reinstalling iIMHO is the best method rather than updating. Sometimes drivers overwrite and become corrupt.

Try to only stick with microsoft & Dell (your manufacturer) for driver updates. Programs that connect to sites and download new drivers for your system often install incorrect updates. Even if your system has a say, Toshiba AB-01234-YX, the driver for the component might not be written the exact same way Dell/the computer manufacturer has written it. You also do not know the programmer and cannot honestly say you can trust them when installing and asked "are you sure" if it is not digitally signed.

Link from e-mails

If clicking a hyperlink in Outlook Express appears to do nothing at all, there are likely one or more registered file associations that are configured incorrectly. To repair the associations:

Open My Computer and click Folder Options on the Tools menu.
Click the File Types tab.
Select URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol in the list of registered file types.
Click the Advanced button (Windows XP), or the Edit button (other versions).
In the list of Actions, select open and then click the Edit button.
The Application used to perform action box should contain this, including quotation marks:
“C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe” -nohome
If instead it contains a short name version of that path, or an incorrect path, change it to the above.
Click OK, click OK.
Repeat steps 3-7 for the file type URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol with Privacy.
Click OK to close the Folder Options window.

Explorer.exe - application error

Try the following to gather additional information.
Run a test on the hard drive(s) for any bad sectors via chkdsk
Run a memtest to verify the integrity of the physical memory. I would suggest the memtest via the Knoppix CD.
Look in the Windows Event Viewer, Application and System log for any possible resource contention issues or other system problems.

Window closing Problem

I think you have a bad memory chip or bad motherboard RAM bank.

You should do a RAM memory check. If you look in the EventViewer by going to Start | Run | and typing "eventvwr.msc". You may see events there that will indicate what and why.

Or, you can search for a Memory checker on the internet and use it to reboot and test your memory on bootup.
