Question about Philips 55PW9363 55" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Open Question

Philips 55pw9363/17f no pictures, with sound.

I bought this TV used and got about 4 months use out of it. First I noticed that the picture would drop out intermittently when watching cable. I switched to using the VCR to input the cable and that kept us up and running about another week. Sometimes when turned on it would take for ever to warm up and show picture. Sound was never a problem. One day, no more picture, didn't matter from where. There was a popping noise that would occasionally occur before the picture went all the way out. Not like a string of pops but like 1 pop. I took the back cover off and noticed that somebody had been in there before I got the TV. Nothing looks burnt. The picture bulbs do not light up.

If you have any ideas about what needs replaced or adjusted, I am very handy and want to fix this myself.

Look for the vertical output, it should be a 7 pin transistor located on the defection board, meaning the board with the highvoltage transformer on it. Should be on a heat shield standing up(black)

Sounds like your convergence chips are shorted which would make the set shut down. Its also possible that the flyback has failed but because the first symptom was the 3d look I would start with the convergence repair.

Here are some of the most common symptoms.

Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in but stationary.
No audio or video - typicaly occurs after having the distorted color problems listed above.

Solution:
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit for your exact model. The kit includes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc. Everything you need to fix it yourself.

Hope this helps,
Ed

I have a philips 60 that leaked out oil need to replace

If you can still powerup the tv and see a picture and sound is fine, you can probably save the TV. Pull out the board that was drenched in oil and let it sit in a warm area for a few months, it will dry and should be fine. You will need to purchase projection fluid... see MCM Electronics.com. Then you will have to do complete convergence on just the one color tube that you replaced the oil. The code to enter to do this is 062597 MENU on the remote. You will see instructions to converge. Please find the technical instructions that should be stapled to the back of the tv. Or locate the service manual on this website to see what keys on the remote to work. Remember the only color you will be working on, is the tube you fill. Good Luck and be very patient.

I have a philips magnavox and had two problems that I recently fixed using kits from www.TvRepairKits.com. I can't say enough about their kits and help. Without them I would have never been able to fix my TV set myself.

The first problem I had was the TV was looking 3D. After doing some homework I found out that this is a convergence problem. I bought a kit, followed the instructions, and to my amazement fixed it myself.

After building my confidence with the 1st repair I decided to get their CRT fluid kit. This kit fixes the dull video, red video, or bright/halo looking video. If you have a magmavox set that is more than 5 years old your tv has this problem already. It happens on every set. As before I bought the kit, followed the instructions, and now my video looks factory new. Once again I wanted to say thanks to the team at Tv Repair Kits for putting together kits that the average joe can use.

Tv is 4 months old we have sound but no picture. If we leave the tv off four a while it comes back for a little bit and goes again. Getting no response from the company we bought it from. Can you help us.

Sounds like the bulb has burned out in the TV. Sometimes the TV has surges or spikes in power and it can overload the picture bulb and fry the bulb without you even noticing anything. The main indicator of this is that there is no picture but there is sound. The bulbs can cost anywhere from 75 dollars to more than 300 dollars. If you can finally reach the company you bought it from and have them look at it they will tell you the same. There are sites to look up the prices of new bulbs but if you have a warranty through the company you bought it from then it would be free of charge to replace.
