The power supply unit is defective. One of the components might have gone wrong. It might be either Diode, rectifier or Capacitor...
If you are familiar with the electronics you can fix it. If not, go for a technician who can fix this.

This is the protect mode, you most likely have a power supply problem. You can try to reset the tV by unplugging it for an hour and then try it again. If it continues to do the same thing you will need to repair the TV. This would require some electronic troubleshooting skills and the proper tools. A DVM and soldering equipment at minimum. If you are not comfortable with repairing it yourself, you should take it in for service at a authorized service center near your home.

Hi,

On similar concerns, the standby light or the red light flashing indicating that the unit has switched to protection mode. On some models, the number and sequence of flashes indicates the general area of the fault and where initial diagnosis can begin. Eventually the unit has to be opened up for a look and see. This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Incidentally, in the hope that this is a simple glitch, perhaps you can try unplugging from the mains and removing all connectors. After an extended period, reconnect and verify connections and try again.

Additionally, was there anything out of the ordinary prior to the incident such as power failure/interruptions, thunderstorm, TV used for an extended period pf time, the remotes has been inadvertently played with, or anything noteworthy.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Issue seems power supply-overheating related
Please try to keep the TV unplugged about 2 hours and try again.
If issue continues you might request further steps to troubleshoot.

My Panasonic PT-LB50U LCD projector flashes red lamp indicator and will not light up. I replaced the lamp and it still will not light. The old lamp only had 20 or so hours on it and it does the same thing....

this worked for me what i did is: turn on projector then undo the light panel when its on the projector then will cut off, now the light panel pushes down on the hidden safety switch take a screw driver and push down on the switch, the projector will turn on then wait for about 8 sec then release the projector will turn off, repeat step several times until the light flickers, then do a couple more times and the light should come on and should stay steady turn off and let cool for 10 min, this worked for me hope it works for you!

TV shuts off after about 15 minutes of running. Shows steady red light on lamp indicator.

red indicator on the lamp is indicating the lamp is defective or the ballast isnt lighting the lamp. Try replacing the lamp. What model set do you have?

A steady red light is an indication of a power supply regulation problem.. Its not a job that can be done by a do-it your selfer or an end user. Sorry man those days are done. You should for your health and best interest, seek out a local TV repair peep to assist you with this repair.
