I have a RCA D52W20 rear projection HDTV. This TV was purchased in2005. I cancelled my cable and I just hooked up a digital antenna but the TV isn't finding any channels. What do I need to do? I was...

HDTV indicates the number of lines that are shown by the TV. (HD means that at least 720 lines can be displayed in a given picture.) To receive OTA signals, you need an ATSC tuner (digital) of sufficient power (with a clear path to the transmitter) these days. The RCA D52W20 was released in 2002 and only has an NTSC (analog tuner). You will need a digital-to-analog converter to receive OTA TV (unless any low power analog stations remain in your area).

Please note that the basic digital-to-analog converters that were available with the government coupon back in 2009 were SD (480i lines of pixels used) units. HD d-t-a converters exist but are more expensive.

I hope this helps.

(the phrase "digital antenna" is meaningless; check with tvfool.com or antennaweb.org for the direction of local transmitters. TVfool.com will give more information on the type of antenna (indoor, outdoor, amplifier) that you will need to receive channels in your area. Antennaweb assumes an external antenna but is very conservative in the stations that it will indicate that you can receive. Antennas are given a color rating based on how far away the transmitter can be to get a watchable signal. Since digital signals are either enough for the tuner to interpret or you get a "no signal" message, you often need a stronger signal than was needed to receive a watchable analog channel.)

RCA HD52W59 HDTV Plug in digital antenna into air antenna input then run channel scan =0 channels What should I do next??? Mike

Make sure you are connecting the digital antenna to the digital antenna input on the back of the set, then rescan. Most over the air Tv signals migrated to digital transmission and therefore the analog input is mostly for older analog devices. If you still do not get any channels, then you need to make sure the antenna you are using is rated for reception in your area. You can check for proper antenna size and channels available here,http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx

I have audio cables going from HD 61g887 jvc tv, to my phillips surround sound system under aux but it is not giving me sound?

hi
you didn't mentioned the model number of your surround sound system, for a better solution its important. any why try the following.

if you are connected the analog audio output of your tv to the system using RCA cable, then go to the setup of the surround sound system and change the input assignment setting from digital to analog.
If your connected the digital output of your tv to the digital input of your surround system using optical cable then, goto the setup of your surround system and change the input assignment to digital (optical) input.

I have a RCA D52W17 rear projection T.V. When I turned the power on the green light flashed 3 times then shut off and now it won't go on at all.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. 3 blinks in your RCA D52W17 rear projection are caused due to 3 capacitors (CP114, 120 and 150) which are located on the deflection board. If any of these capacitors goes bad you’ll have to replace them with the exact same ones. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Cable plug broke off

Well first repair the coaxial cable going to your antenna. There is no way you can use RCA cables as a substitution for coaxial cable. They have totally two different properties. You can use the coaxial and feed it to a VCR/DVD player where you can output the signal with RCA/composite cables. Basically, use your VCR/DVD player as a tuner for your TV.

RCA D52W17 ANTENNA/CABLE ANALOG INPUT

That is an ITC222 chassis and one of the more dependable RCA units built. The "F" connector is the part you're referring to and it's not something that carries a specific part number for that unit. In the shop here we simply buy them by the box and the tuner will have to be removed to install a new connector. The new one will be soldered to the chassis of the tuner and less likely to break in the future. Not something you probably want to do yourself, but at least you'll know what to ask the shop when you're calling around for estimates.
