CANT FIND MODEL OR SERIAL NUMBER ON DRYER

CAN U TELL ME WHERE THE MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER IS LOCATED ON THE ESTATE BY WHIRLPOOL ELECTRIC DRYER?

I STILL CANT FIND IT. I CALLED WHIRLPOOL THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THE SAME THING AS YOU. I BOUGHT THIS DRYER FROM A USED APPLIANCE PLACE AND MY GUESS IS IT HAS TO HAVE BENN REMOVED/LOST WHATEVER. THIS PLACE HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR YEARS BUT PROBABLY NOT THE MOST RESPECTABLE. JUST TRYING TO PRICE THE "HEATING ELEMENT" BUT CANT DO W/OUT MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER. MAYBE TIME TO BUY NEW BUT MONEY IS ALWAYS TIGHT.

  • jerdgg Nov 11, 2008

THE DRYER RUNS GREAT IT JUST DOES NOT EVEN GET WARM. I RESET THE FUSE BOX AND CHECKED THE VENT LINE AND STILL NOTHING. I APPOLOGIZE MY RATING IS A REFLECTION OF MY FRUSTRATION WITH MULTIPLE HOME REPAIRS AT ONCE. WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS!

There should be a nameplate along the door opening. This is normally where Whirpool puts their information. Just open the door and look along the door or door frame opening. The nameplate data can also be located along the back of the operator console on some models. Let me know if you still can't find it. I hope this helps.

I usually don't give further advice once a solution is given a negative rating. Solutions often require an exchange of information since I am not there to inspect the appliance myself. That's why I rely on the consumer to provide feedback.

Whirlpool also places a technical data sheet inside the operator console with a wiring diagram. Your model number may be listed on the tech sheet as well. Keep in mind: many of the dryer parts are interchangebale between models. What led you to believe the heating to be bad?

Here's a link that may give you further guidance on how to troubleshoot the problem you may be having:

    http://www.fixya.com/support/r630242-dry...

The question I have is, does the air get warm at all? Remove the dryer vent from the back of the dryer and run it. If the air flow is not warm, and you have verified the dryer vent from the point where it exits your dryer to where it exits your home, then I would suspect you may have a failed component somewhere. However, if you can detect SOME heat, your heating element is attempting to heat and you may have a clog internally. Usually the blower fan housing gets clogged and prevents air flow. Rodents are notorious for nesting in this area. That is why it is recommended that you inspect the duting and dryer interior periodically.

Now...if the air flow is blowing forcefully and STILL not getting hot, follow the advice in the link provided. If you are savvy with electronics, simple resistance checks can determine what failed component you may have. The Thermal Cut-Out is a common fail item. It is designed to protect the heating circuits in the event of an overheat condition (clogs can cause this). I would recommend you check the TCO, first, before assuming the heating element is bad. You still may be right, but check the TCO to be sure. It will cost you less to replace it in the long run.

Now, what to do about your model number. As I said before, many of the Whirpool appliances (Estate is manufactured by Whirlpool) use identical parts (especially dryers). There may be a part number stamped on the component. If you can locate a part number ANYWHERE on the suspected failed part, I can attempt to locate it for you.

Let me know if this helps you.

PS Let me know if your lint screen is locted in the door, or on the top of the dryer cabinet. This makes a difference in how to disassemble the dryer and where the heating circuits are located.

From what you are stating either the belt has broken or the motor quit working. Only way to tell is take dryer apart. Go to appliancepartspros.com put in model number and you will get schematics on your dryer, this will show you where all parts are located.

Dryer will not start...Dryer has power, belt is not borken, no other visible defects seen.

You have a bad thermal fuse . A small white piece , with 2 wires going to it , located on the blower housing . It may be on the rear of the dryer (remove the back panel if panel is grey ), or on the housing behind the front panel . (have to raise the lid to remove the front panel ) . Without the model number , cant tell you exactly which location .

Sep 26, 2009 | Whirlpool LER5636P Electric Dryer

No heat

If this is a Whirpool model dryer (this includes Kenmore, Estate and Roper), the heating element will be located on the lower right hand side with the back panel removed. If the dryer does not have removable back panel, the heating element will be located inside the dryer under the drum on the right hand side.

Since you posted no brand name or model number, I'm going by the heading you posted this under. If your dryer model is different, please post back with your correct information so that I may assist you better.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this answers your question.
