Re: help me

It sounds like your running the amp to hard (gain too high) or on an impedance lower than 1.5 ohm. What type of subwoofer are you running? voice coil? how far around is the gain setting? e mail me a if you like.

I have a Jl Audio 250/1 mono block amp and the thermal light keeps coming on what could be causing this?

It could be a number of things? 1 to many subs, speakers wired to the amp causing it to overheat and making the thermal light come on. 2 It all depends were your amp is. If it's clear and nothing covering it, obstructing it, Ie sub in front of it, amp inbetween the rear seats and sub.

My amp cuts out at higher volume

This happens to me all the time during the warm months. The problem is likely that the amplifier is overheating because of location. If not properly ventilated, the amplifier will shut off before damage occurs. Is it located under a seat or other area where sufficient air flow is lacking? I solved this problem by moving my amplifier from under a seat to the trunk area.

JL Audio 500/1 Amplifier "Thermal" light flashing

Re-check all the connections to the speakers, The uPC monitors all the outputs and if any are taking more power than they should, the uPC shuts the amp down to protect the internal components. Don`t use tape joints alone, try to run the cable the full length without any joints. If you do have to piece the wires together, solder them and stagger the connections, in other words, make one lead shorter than the other so that if the tape does come off, the offending connection is well away from the other so they can never meet or connect to each other. Jl audio 250/1 thermal light

Disconnect all speaker wires from the amp and disconnect the RCA cables from the amp. If it still goes into protect mode, use a multimeter to confirm that you have 12v on the B+ and remote terminals. Place the black meter probe on the ground terminal of the amp when measuring the voltage. If the voltage is sufficient and the amp goes into protect, it will have to be repaired. JL only accepts repairs from authorized dealers. You'll have to find one in your area or you'll have to find a repair shop willing to work on JL amps.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

My jl Auido 250/1 amp

You may have a bad output on the amplifier. I would recommend taking it to a local electronics repair to have fixed, or visit a local stereo shop - preferably a JL Audio dealer. Visit their website at to find a dealer near you. You can have your amplifier sent in to JL Audio for repair by an authorized dealer and you'll get a warranty on the repair work.

Sub makes loud noise when car is shut off

Does it make noise if the RCAs are unplugged? If not, the RCA shield on your head unit may be burned open.

If the amplifier is set to signal sense, it will take longer for the power light to go off.
